What is the Bagua?
Put simply, the Bagua is a kind of Feng Shui map. It is the essential tool used to analyze any space, inside or out, including homes, offices, or plots of land. As you can see on the opposite page, it is an octagonal-shaped figure divided into nine areas or "Gua" - that's eight areas of a space, plus its center.
Each Gua reflects a certain area of your life. There is a Gua to indicate the following areas: Prosperity, Future, Relationships, Creativity, Helpful People, Work, Knowledge, Family, and Health. You use the Bagua map to find out which areas of each room or of an entire space relate to the different areas of your life.
Your Feng Shui Solutions fully explains the wonderful benefits of knowing this and what to do to improve various circumstances for you. Depending on what's happening in your life, you'll want to make changes in those corresponding areas or places in your home according to the advice you will receive in your Feng Shui Consultations.
To find where each Gua or area is located in any space (such as a bedroom, garden, or office building), you simply lay the Ba Gua on a sketch or floor plan of that space. This is called positioning (or "throwing") the Bagua. I will be explaining how to do this shortly.
The Ba Gua is used to examine the existing condition of all areas of your home. You will be amazed how the diverse conditions of your home reflect the individual circumstances of your life! Happily, you can use Feng Shui to anchor good luck where it exists and encourage the growth of prosperity where it is absent!
Once you learn how to throw the Ba Gua to determine where each Gua lies in your home and workplace, you'll be able to direct your own destiny like a fine sea captain navigating the waterways of life. Using this important basic tool, you can map out the course of your life to attract people, situations and things you want and to deflect those you don't want.
