The Chinese Year of the Ox

The Chinese New Year is the third New Moon after the Winter Solstice. The New Moon in Aquarius on January 26 will usher in the Chinese Year of the Ox, and year 4706 of the Chinese calendar. Generally, in an Ox Year there will be an emphasis on stability, steady growth, and traditional values. It’s a time to reap what you have sown, to harvest the fruits of your past efforts, and work patiently toward further growth. “Slow and steady wins the race” is the motto for an Ox year.

To find out what the Year of the Ox is going to bring you, locate your animal in the list below and read your forecast. If you are not sure of your Chinese sign, click here and then come back to this page to read your forecast for this Ox year.
The Rat in the Year of the Ox

2009 may bring some pressure to take on more duties and responsibilities. But the Year of the Ox is still auspicious for the Rat. You’ll be able to make steady progress. And on the home front, family life is stable and emotionally sweet.
The Ox in the Year of the Ox

In 2009, the Ox will feel in tune with the energies of this time. While other signs may feel caught up in delays, you’ll be happy to keep to a steady pace and achieve your goals. Matters of the heart and home are destined to be successful and joyous.
The Tiger in the Year of the Ox

You could find the Year of the Ox a little frustrating, due to the slower pace and need for restraint that could be required. If you can maintain a low profile, you should be able to overcome any obstacles to your personal progress, both emotionally and in your career.
The Rabbit in the Year of the Ox

For you Rabbits, the Year of the Ox brings domestic matters to the forefront. You’ll feel more at ease in the slower pace and be able to spend more quality time with friends and loved ones. It would be a good time to buy, sell, or improve your home or surroundings.
The Dragon in the Year of the Ox

Working with the highest ideals and honesty will help you succeed in the Year of the Ox, both in business and romance. Keep your nose to the grindstone and find satisfaction and relaxation with time-tested friends and loved ones.
The Snake in the Year of the Ox

2009 will be an auspicious year for you Snakes, as the steady pace required suits you very well. You’ll find that you can get results at work and in your personal life by acting on your intuition and hunches. Learn to strike when the iron is hot.
The Horse in the Year of the Ox

You may be raring to go, but the Year of the Ox requires you to exercise some caution. Take the time to consolidate your position instead of striking out in new directions. It is the time for a slow buildup rather than a new undertaking. Your emotional life can help bring you comfort.
The Sheep in the Year of the Ox

You could feel challenged on all sides in the Year of the Ox. It’s best to keep a low profile and work behind the scenes to maintain your progress. Put any ambitious plans on the back burner for now. Avoid being impulsive and develop your patience, and be sure to make time for fun and enjoyment.
The Monkey in the Year of the Ox

In 2009, things will slow down for the Monkey and it’s your cue to consolidate your progress. You may need to tie up loose ends from the past. Beware of trying to cut corners; you may only end up having to redo. The slower tempo gives you a chance to concentrate on your personal life.
The Rooster in the Year of the Ox

The Year of the Ox is auspicious for the Rooster. You could recoup some losses you may have had last year. At work you can make steady progress after a slow start and you can be rewarded for your endeavors. You’ll have a chance to enhance your reputation with new opportunities.
The Dog in the Year of the Ox

The Year of the Ox is not the time to push plans forward. It will take a lot of hard work and effort, but you will be able to see progress and can expect to reap well-deserved rewards. Concentrate on matters close to home. Simple pleasures bring the most satisfaction.
The Pig in the Year of the Ox

The Year of the Ox looks bright and hopeful for the Pig. You can use your natural talents and intuition to get ahead. They will help you lay foundations for the future. You’ll feel confident in your abilities. Take advantage of the opportunity to improve your House-of-Love at work, home, and socially.

I just have to tell you. The Chinese zodiac is a mystery full of excitement.and What ever your sign is, treat it with respect and love because, we all in this world fall in any one of these signs.I was talking with a Chinese man, named Jiaming jang, a mechanical engineer from Tianging, Peoples's Rpublic of China, While he was here in Texas, I learned a whole lot of the Chinese Culture. Yes, we talked about many things, including astrology, and he explained to me that of all the signs the only one no body wants to be in it, is "The Rat." You see, men born in that sign, generally are folks who lack character, discipline and other unpleasantries. That's why a majority of women in China, try very hard not to marry during the year of the Rat, and also, plan carefully to make sure not to get pregnant at that time, they plan also, not to have their babies born during the year of the Rat. So, what ever your sign is embrace it, it is not your fault that you carry a Rat's sign. Remember. No body can choose his/her parents, and no one has the luxury to chose his/her cildren.Good night.to all.

all good for conversation and interesting, but do you really buy this stuff? Just like the horoscope in the daily paper. Most of the time if you read them all, they are all the same with different wording. Some good --some evil all in the same paragragh. I hate to tell you---that is life.

Just like I'm a Water Boar but the BOAR is also INTERCHANGEABLE with the PIG. So MY forecast would be under the PIG INSTEAD OF under BOAR.
Comment #87 by Stephen on February 04, 2009
George W. would be the scapegoat, not the goat. In the chinesse calendar, the GOAT is INTERCHANGEABLE with the SHEEP. In otherwords, GOAT = SHEEP; For all of you Goats out there wondering where your forecasts are, as said numberous times already, GO READ THE SHEEP FORECAST! IT'S FOR BOTH SHEEP & GOATS!
Comment #88 by Donna on February 04, 2009
No fair, I'm a goat so where are our forecast?
Comment #89 by Doug on February 02, 2009
Let me tell you where the Sheep and the Goat are. . .they are hiding from the Ox if they're smart. The Ox and the Tiger are known as about the worst combination among the Chinese. For more info, go to www.loveforalifetime.org There are over 43,000 different variations of each of the 12 animals.
Comment #90 by Adrienne on February 02, 2009
In Chinese astrology, the goat and sheep are used interchangeably. The rabbit and cat are also used interchangeably but more rarely. If you are a goat, read the entry for sheep.
Comment #91 by Barbra on February 02, 2009
