| I have been reminiscing about the great time I had with my grandsons over the Christmas holiday and thought about how wonderful it would be if we could just keep the good feelings and spirit of the day alive all through the year! I realize that God promised that this would be so if we believed it to be true. |

Yesterday, as I sat with a good friend in foreclosure court, it occurred to me how much we all need words of encouragement. My friend Anne is a sixty-something, African-American grandmother who is raising her three-year-old grandson. Anne’s son died tragically in a car accident three years around Thanksgiving. It was this event that compelled her to take on the role of mother at her age.

I recently lost my cat, Lobo, to cancer a few months after he had been given the diagnosis. Since Lobo was 14, we decided not to put him through chemotherapy, but to help him stay comfortable for as long as he was with us.
I’ve had other cat companions over the years, but this one was so very special. I realize that I’m not the only one who has fallen in love with my pets, only to watch them in to the inevitable cycle of life and death.

Dear Manidooers
There’s an old Scandanavian saying that simply says, “Clouds move.” It reminds us that no matter how many clouds are covering the sun, they will eventually leave. It is their nature to do so, just as it is the nature of the human spirit to move out from under clouds and heal in the wake of crisis and trauma.

Dear Manidooers
No matter what you have been going through in the past, remember that you have seeds of greatness and potentials hidden on the inside of you that just need to be brought out. God has given you a gift. Believe it. Develop it. Be willing to go further with it.
You may be feeling oppressed by finances or are caught up in a challenging situation today, but trust that God will use each experience to prepare you for the blessings that lie ahead, bringing his perfect will for your life.

I was driving in my neighborhood the other day when I happened to see a banner that was hanging over a local church’s front entryway. It read “God is still speaking” and I thought “ain’t that the truth!”
How is God still speaking to you, my friends? Does He come with a quiet, small voice that forces you to listen carefully, requiring you to still your own mind to hear the messages? Or does He come crashing into your life with big events that make you pay attention?
I prefer to get the small, quiet voice variety of receiving messages from God. But let me tell you that I have definitely experienced the in-your-face, pay-attention-to-me kind of intervention that God is famous for!

Many prayer requesters in our Manidoo community are expressing how overwhelmed they are feeling with all of the daily tasks and responsibilities that they must face. This prompts me to suggest that it is the baby steps you take, the everyday things you do, that eventually get you to the end goal of completing your tasks or solving your life’s problems.

Dear Manidoo Friends
I have to admit that I’m one of those people who picks up stray pennies that I see in parking lots or on sidewalks. I always thought that finding a penny was for good luck, but I love the following interpretation even better.
Some people think that pennies come from heaven. That’s what my grandmother used to say to me when I was younger. She said that angels place them in our path just to say hello or to cheer us up, and especially to make you smile when you’re feeling down. I like to think that my angelic guides are playing a game with me, like a game of heavenly hide and seek.

Hello Friends
I found out recently that one of our regular Manidoo Prayer Chat Room members has crossed over to Spirit. Even though I had chatted with Donna only a few times, I found myself feeling shocked at this news.
My sense of shock comes from the human side of me that naturally experiences loss when someone has died. However, I do my best to refocus my attention on the spiritual part of myself that knows the truth that we never die.
