The long hard winter season is finally over. The cold winter months don’t just tax our energy level, they can do serious damage to our loves lives as well. Studies show that the majority of couples that separate or break-up, do so between Christmas and Valentine’s Day. You may ask why?
These days it seems that adultery is becoming asocial norm. Who hasn’t heard about Tiger Woods and John Edwards’ indiscretions? Now Jesse James was recently caught cheating on his wife Sandra Bullock with tattoo magazine model Michelle "Bombshell" McGee. As more and more details emerge, the public will form their opinion. But the question remains: where do they go from here? One minute Sandra Bullock is a happy wife, the next she is in the center of a media firestorm. What would you do? Would you take him back?
The economy may be in the gutter, but that doesn’t mean that your date nights should become a casualty! With the stress of day-to-day life, it’s easy to forget the importance of reconnecting with our significant other. Right now that is more important than ever, and best of all, you can do it without doling out a lot of cash. Grab your honey and try out some (or all) of our fun, inexpensive date-night activities. An important point to keep in mind when you are in the midst of a breakup is that a broken heart is only temporary. You will probably need to remind yourself that the sadness will subside over time, and you will move on.
I really enjoyed the many lovely and romantic submissions from Manidoo’s Love Story Contest. Reading them, I was struck by how many in our community have found love a second time or later in their life and this is very inspiring indeed. After all, we are living beings and most of us need intimacy and closeness.
Do you have an enduring relationship with your partner? The kind that feels like home even when you’re not at home? A significant other who is a true partner in every sense of the word – someone who you can confide in, laugh with, trust, talk about things with. Someone who you genuinely care deeply about – and who genuinely cares deeply about you.
Have you ever heard someone refer to an ill-fated relationship? The term ill-fated can have a lot of meanings, but the one most generally accepted is “doomed or destined for misfortune.” Maybe you have even been in just such a relationship at one time or another in your life!
Can you imagine being dropped abruptly by your spouse/partner for a much younger person? One minute you think you’re in a committed, mature relationship with an age-mate who respects and appreciates what you bring to the table in life (not just in looks, but also in personality, charm, the wisdom that comes with years, etc.), the next minute you realize that you’ve been traded in for someone much younger? |
Would you get married if you were one of the most eligible celebrity bachelors or bachelorettes around? Most people seem to want to marry at some point, but celebrities are in a particular position vis-à-vis the public exposure of their private lives as well as the financial implications of a potential divorce.
Try to imagine it. Just a little over a month ago, you had a wonderful life: Two adorable children, a husband who is a golfing legend, and hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank. You had it all. Now – after no less than 12 mistresses have come forward to say that your husband has been cheating on you right and left virtually the entire time you’ve known him with women from coast to coast, bad-mouthing your marriage endlessly, all the while – you’re a national punch line. You’ve been humiliated on the cover of almost every magazine in the country. Your wonderful life, as you knew it, is over. Just like that. What do you do?
