The Amityville Horror
In the small town of Amityville on New York's Long Island, one evening in 1974, 23 year old Ronald DeFeo burst into a bar and declared that his entire family had just been shot. Police discovered six bodies in the DeFeo home at 112 Ocean Avenue, and what's more, the subsequent investigation revealed that Ronald DeFeo had himself killed them all: both his parents, and his four younger siblings. Despite DeFeo's claim that strange voices in his head compelled him to commit the murders, he was convicted of all six murders and remains imprisoned to this day.

Just over a year after the murders, the home was purchased by newlyweds George and Kathy Lutz, who moved in with their three children. The house was sold furnished so all of the DeFeo's furniture was still there, just as it had been on the night of the murders. George Lutz had heard of the murders, so just to be on the safe side, they called a priest whom Kathy knew, to bless the house.

The trouble began when the priest was driven out of the house by an angry disembodied voice, and received stigmatic blisters on his skin. The family daughter reported a friendly pig named Jodie, who later began making appearances to the rest of the family through windows. A sculpted lion came to life and walked around the house, and even bit George Lutz.

The apparition of a demonic boy appeared and was photographed, which you can find online. Angry red eyes looked into the house at night, and left cloven footprints in the snow. George Lutz woke up in a sweat every night at the same hour the DeFeos were murdered. Stephen Kaplan, a local parapsychologist, was called in to investigate.

Powerful forces caused doors to explode off their hinges. Kathy developed strange red marks on her chest and levitated two feet off her bed, and George saw her transform into a hideous old hag. Green slime oozed from the walls of the house, and a crucifix on the wall constantly rotated itself upside down. And, in one final night of terror that the Lutzes have never even been able to describe, the family was driven out of the house, never to return. Their stay had lasted only 28 days.

Today, the Amityville haunting remains one of the most chilling stories ever told. There have also been several Hollywood movies about the Amityville Horror. Have you seen these movies? What are your thoughts on this and other similar chilling ghostly encounters? Tell us by posting your comments below.

Amityville horror is such kind of a tragical event; reference to that story, the oldest son was being possessed by somekind of negative spirit which according to some psychic and paranormal experts are really violent because of their demonic power of darkness. Even the member of the church like priest has no power to perform exorcism to expell this negative spirits unless they are given the authority from the head of diocess. Those bad spirit could be just dwelling nearby or with in the house at their own state of different dimension close to human ground; they like to disturb people that does'nt know how to feel self respect and most of all Love. This people that they possessed are their instrument to exercise their violent motives like killing and raping their own family members. As you can remember there was no killing involve to the second family who did bought that amityville house, they vacated the house though, because Love exist with in the family non of the member can be possessed because the strenght of respect and love among them exist. I myself had witnessed a woman livitated 3 ft above the floor on a sitting position against the wall that woman happens to be my cousin and she was possessed by somekind of she called herself they are invisible people of different world and dimension, but they are not violent like the demon spirit. Everytime, this invisible people ocupied the the body of my cousin you can hear from her mouth different voices until she will get normalized and she will speak different languages french, chinese, english, spanish, russian, latin and hebrew; she is a Filipina, so people in the neighborhood are wondering if she is really talking right in every language so they call some people who are really chinese, spanish, frances, and a priest who specialized latin and hebrew language and this people who are called to talk with her they said she really did speak fluently and grammatically in every language. This is really intriguing to other people who really believe nothing, but just themselves that they don't even believe in God.

Well I seen the movie and I thought it was off the hook. I am not scared of scary movies at all. In fact i really like them but, this one really got me. Not scared but, got me thinkin cause its based off true events. Has anyone ever seen The haunting of Emily Rose or the Haunting in Connecticut?? I don't know but, I really get into movies like this you know. i believe that some stuff can happen as I have experienced a ghost myself first hand. I'd be happy to go on a ghost hunt with anybody and maybe make a believer out of you. Email me at sassyheather2005@yahoo.com if anyone is interested. Put (ghost hunt) in the subject line please so it does not get deleted. Thanx and happy hunting. =)

I once knew a guy that worked on the movie set and he often complained of the films being blank when reviewed. He indicated that the location of filming had to be changed from the original home at Amityville to another location.

Number 1 I believe in Ghosts Spirits excetera , However we lived a quarter mile away from this house back in1976 , when I was only six myself. For years I did believe in the stories but I also investigated it and it turns out that the Lutz family saw an opportunity and they took it, It has been called a hoax and it probably was...Although I also think something different in the De Feo side of it. I think Ronny did hear voices...Was it ghosts, Indian spirits, no one knows except Ronny....

I was born in 1974 but heard all about the house and all kinds of other ghost stories growing up even seeing a few hear and their and also feeling evil and seeing a dark shadow that would stand at the end of my bed many nights. I was very scared and also felt that it was demonic. I stood up and demanded it leave my house and me alone in the name and blood of Christ. So i know their is a spirit world full of good and evil, i have a gift to see and feel and even hear them. And my Grandmother who lived in NY. took my mom and two aunts with her and seen the Amityville house and took a picture of it. My grandmother's watch stopped and a foul smell filled the air they said. Well the picture has a spirit looking out one of those windows looking at her. I'm really serious. My grandmother was a medicine women of the American Indian tribe, and she says the place is very evil and is a portal. I personally believe her then and now. I don't put myself in a situation that brings me harm or follows me home to harm my family or scare them. although i am strong enough to make them go away, i don't play with the sprit world like that.

This whole story was debunked. Show proof that it was real. If it was real they would still be investigating the house. It was suppost to be built on an indian barial ground. The well in the basement was a door to hell. Prove it............bullshit.......I believe in some stuff but not this

As ppl should know the house was built on Indian land! Let a shaman bless it & the no more building make it a park dedicated to the tribe that lived there And give blessings every year to the dead there! Who knows maybe it will stop! Thats what I would do!

I definately believe in sthe supernatural! I had a room mate pass away in my home and after the paramedics removed his body, my dog stood in the hall way and was staring at the place where my friend's body was found. He jumped back and starting growling and barking! I knew that my friend's spirit had been left behind. After that, all kinds of strange phenomon(sp?) started happening, such as the lights going on and off, cabinet doors opening and closing etc. and I could feel a strange presence in my home and knew without a doubt that his spirit had been left behind and was restless! Soon after that I lost my job, my home and all the contents! So yes I believe in these things!

I've seen all the horror movies and TV shows and they are made only for the purpose of making a buck, and scaring the viewers.

I neither believe, nor disbelieve.

I do, however, believe in the possibility.

I've never seen ghosts or monsters, but I've also never seen Vatican City.

I can honestly say I've been enlightened, reconfirmed some of my experiences, and been made skeptical reading all of these posts.I remember the news stories that came out of Amityville after the murders and it was just another news story at the times. Can't remember if the Enquirer was around then, but if so I'm sure they picked the story up. I, too, remember the stories about the Lutz family when they first came out. I saw the original movie when it came out and it scared the piss out of me. I then read the book by Anson and it scared the s--t out of me. I've seen numbers of articles and shows where the Lutz's confirmed their story was real. I've heard many people's posts that later the Lutz's had said it was all a hoax, that the realtor claimed the same, that the preist was sanctioned, etc. but I've never seen such in credible print, on any documentary, etc. I am not saying it is not true, but as with the Amityville Horror, Anyone can say anything, where can I find these debunk articles? One other Question, I lost my wife of 19 years suddenly one night. I've begged and pleaded for her to show me she is ok and to see her one last time, but to no avail. I guess it depends on the persons mental openess or awareness for this to happen. I'm not bashful, my e-mail is bsteen94@yahoo.com Anyone who can answer my questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks folks, Brian

Hi I am from Amityville, born and raised and yes I HAVE my drivers license to prove it and birth certificate.... Most of the story is true, Ronnie did kill his family, the voices he heard came from mixing LSD, Cocaine, and a menagerie of other drugs... he Lutz's did live there but they were so far in debt they concocted the "story" to help pay off debts... The hose still stands there are people that kive there and its an awesome home... Thanks for listening..... Have a GREAT weekend!!

I know for a fact that there IS life after death, or at least that your spirit leaves your body when you die. So if you're interested you can look it up on the other spiritual site right before the Amityville one. I agree ABSOLUTELY with Kevin (comment no. 18). I feel as though I've met a soul mate with the way he explains his beliefs. Bravo. Karen Koontz, Inglewood, California.

In a 2000 interview with The History Channel, Kathy Lutz claimed that a tragedy befell every family that lived in the DeFeo home. Moreover, Jay Anson's book suggests that the property is cursed because it had once belonged to John Ketcham, a suspected witch, who had fled Salem, Massachusetts before taking up residence in Amityville.

During an August 9, 1979 press conference, Jim Cromarty, then-owner of the Amityville house, said, “I was born in Amityville. I knew every family that grew up in this house. And that is another crock. The Lutzes say that every family that was brought up in this house had bad things happen to them. It happens to be a fact that only one family had a tragedy happen to them in this house. Every other family had nothing but good things come out of the house.”

On March 18, 1977, Jim and Barbara Cromarty purchased the home from the bank. Although plagued by hordes of tourists searching for supernatural phenomena, the Cromartys managed to live there happily for a decade. Nonetheless, they found it necessary to change the address to confuse the curious.

During a press conference to refute the Lutzes' allegations, the Cromartys issued a two-page statement. An excerpt read:

The quiet village of Amityville, Long Island, has been made infamous by a hoax. It will possibly never be the same. It is Long Island's equivalent to Watergate. None of us would be here today if a responsible publisher and author had not given credibility to two liars, and allowed them the privilege of putting the word true on a book in which in all actuality is a novel. The credibility of the hoax stems from using a charlatan Catholic priest, who has been banned from performing his religious duties by the Diocese of Rockville Centre, the equivalent of disbarment of a lawyer. This charlatan priest has been involved with a complicity to a lie and, therefore, deserves no credibility, and should be dealt with accordingly.

* All taken from http://www.amityvillemurders.com/history.html

* I love a good ghost story just as much as the next guy, but we should all take a note to separate fact from fiction. Yes, a tragedy befell this house, but that doesn't necessarily mean it has paranormal activity going on. - Dave, S.F.

my family and i drove past the amityville house one year. on our way back home, everyone in the car started argueing with each other. we got extremely angry at each other for no apparent reason. i was pregnant at the time. my son is 15 now and has had so many problems growing up. he is locked up now in juvenile detention. i can't help but believe that there is some strange spirit at that house and that it affected my child in some way. ironically, he mentioned how he hears voices instructing him to do stuff, i was so scared i did not pursue the conversation. i just told him to "cool out" but like i said he has been locked up since may and goes to trial in february. i hate that we decided to visit that house.

I am a true believer in Hauntings the Spirit and Ghosts however unfortunately the Amityville story was not true. The family lied for money. They admitted it after a few years. Thats why so many sequals have been made about the house and they are all fiction. Look it up on the internet. The Lutzes used the DeFeo story for their own gain. They are the sick people.

This one I don't like. It just does not seem likely and just tells me to believe things that aren't there. Though I still have explanations.
Comment #36 by Linda on September 26, 2009
Wow a lot of folks have their doubts, while the psychics seems to have an explaination. I can only comment here that one's experience as such can never escape them, and if they tell the tale over and over many years later and they do not change a bit, the experience is real. If it changes, then they've made it up. Put it this way, the guy who killed them was put on a lie detector, and guess what they asked the right questions about whether he was lead by the evil spirit, and he didn't lie. I am sure he was asked to lie, to check the device. Most experiences may manifest in their heads, but what drives them to do it is in question. These evil beings sure are powerful, in the case that they are able to manipulate the minds of vulnerables. Hmm. If he was lead by the evil one only in that house, and not in prison..that's saying something. But if he is killing people in prison, he is not in that house..then it is the guy who has a problem with his head and that the story is made up.

The Amityville Story was fiction. The owners made up the story, and later admitted it was not true. It was announced to the world after that as being fiction. But the story was good. Beatrice on September 24, 2009.

Comment #45 by Kevin on September 23, 2009
Greetings to all. Its interesting to read all the comments so far and so I thought I'd add mine as well. I am a paranormal investigator as well as a psychic sensitive. It runs in my family and is the genetic legacy of my great great maternal grandmother who was the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter.
One of HER daughters, my great grandmother practically raised me and I was exposed to strange phenomena at a very early age and taught to actually develope my abilities rather than suppress them by denial as so many do. Unlike them, who only had one or two abilities in terms of sensitivities to unseen entities, I ended up with all three abilites in that I not only feel spirits, but hear AND see them. Some manifestations may only register with one or two of the abilities but occasionally one will manifest and register with all three, in which case it is then that I KNOW that the manifestation IS A SERIOUS ONE.

Now, as for the Amityville thing, granted I have my questions as well as SOME doubts with some things since I have never physically been there to psychically feel the area. However, taking into account THE FACTS with regards to the site upon which the house was built, I can easily see where portals may well have opened with some still open in which chaotic if not demonic forces can, have, and will mainfest when given the right conditions of a medium through which to manifest such as a mentally and emotionally unstable individual such as DeFeo. The house was in fact built upon what originally was not only sacred ground to native americans but was also a place where the native americans kept together THEIR "undesirables" amongst their own. In essence, you could say that it was a site of the tribal asylum, for want of a better term.
Asylum-like in nature but a sacred space nonetheless because even the native americans sought to, on some level, humanely institutionalize and treat their mentally ill, unlike american asylums back in the old days at the turn of the century and through both world wars and even as far as into the early 1960's, were really snake pits of existence in which all of the undesirables, the deaf, blind, deranged, retarded, deformed, demented, and criminally insane, were all pretty much put together and such a thing as psychiatric medications did not exist then. Now, you put all of those together in a place where they live and die together, the instability of their psyche combined as well as the emotional intensity of their "earthboundedness", in addition to the combination of other factors I shall mention, can and often will open portals of manifestation. Magnetic ley lines cross that area and where two or more ley lines exist and cross, it automatically forms portals for all kinds of anomalies to manifest. This has been observed and addressed by the application of quantum physics, a branch of physics that we sensitives and paranormal investigators understand very well. I speak from experience because a ley line crosses my own property in Texas. As those ley lines slightly shift with the seasons, in the summer, one runs right through my house from one corner of my house to another corner in a diagonal line. Strange broadcasts can be heard as well as voices of seemingly neighbors outside talking one will hear, only to look outside and there be no one there. This is not just me. Other friends and visitors have experienced numerous anomalies at my house and we all know there's no such thing a group hallucination. At any rate, with where I'm going with this: The fact remains that one should always strive to BE AWARE. Nothing is ever what it seems since,in reality, everything is resonate varying frequencies of energy anyway. Regardless of one's religious definition or addressment of things, vague, shallow, and insufficient and most of them are, as one grows SPIRITUALLY, one also grows beyond the typical tenets of one's upbringing and some, depite the dogmas, develope their natural psychic sensitivities anyway despite how religion, namely fundamentalism tries to supress what Deity had intended all along. Granted, there are some things that simply cannot be explained, neither in religious nor necessarily applicable scientific terms but that does not invalidate the experiencing of various manifestation. Multitudes of other planes or demensions all co-exist in the same "physical" space of the universe, the existence of which cannot be proven logically but that quantum physics applied, along with certain experiments that have been done, DO tend to give some glimpse to us that there ARE other realities beyond our own and beyond the ordinary sinews of thought or perception or even science. Albert Einstein showed this tosome degree in his Special Theory Of Relativity. Only now has technology advanced enough to actually test and demonstrate some of his theories and even he mathematically showed, without question, the fact that other realms of existence exist co-habitatively in the same physical space, even once mathematical logic reaches its limits. Despite this, MAN's perception and ability to think beyond his limited perceptions of the world and the universe continues to prevail. I believe that there are some things that science simply cannot explain but regardless of this, the experience of them cannot be invalidated by neither assumption nor most of all, denial. To chalk up these experiences as hallucinations or mind playing tricks on you, etc etc you've heard it all before, still DOES NOT erase the reality of the experiences, particularly when more than one person experiences the same feelings and/or perceptions as well as manifestations with regards to the same area.
Ultimately, it is man's ability to think beyond the limitations of mathematical logic and to think outside the brain that is his aspiration TO EVOLVE beyond the limited perceptions of mortality only.
I think, therefore I AM.

I do believe the Amityville Horror. I have had encounters. Before a book was ever written about Amityville, it was a news broadcast story on the news about the Priest and the lady of the house. This happened when I was still in high school. I did not take it serious then. The book came out and I read the story. It was chilling. Later I had two children. My husband recieved orders for overseas duty. I and my children stayed with my mother. The house next door became vacant. and the owner had known me since i was a child. He offered it to me for a very low price. His mother and stepfather had lived there and they both passed on. My children was age 12 and 9. They were always clean and and neat and attended church services with me all of the time. After six months in the house things started to change. Had no problem with the 9 yr. old. My problem started with the 12 yr. old. she would refuse to go church. I had to argue with her to take baths. She would cause problems at school. She would have to be made to clean, make her bed, to go to school. Her attitude about life changed. I did not know what to do or what was wrong. When we visited my mother next door she was more like the child I knew. We would go back to the house and she would start the change in personalities. We sometime had visiting religious groups that came to our home and we have bible studies. There was on man that they called a Rabbi. He would always lead us in prayer. On the third visit he became very ill and had to leave. He was sweating very heavy and having shortness of breath. We followed him into the front yard. He immediately recovered. He decide to go back in the house. In about five minutes it started with him again. He left and went to to the ER. The doctors could not find anything wrong. The Rabbi came for the fourth time and it all happened again. He left and I did not see him for two weeks. He came back and wanted to talk to me. He would not come in the house. We stood in the front yard. What he told me made mevery nervous. He told me there was something wrong with this house and he and the other Rabbi's that he had consulted, felt that I and my daughters were in danger. I never seen or heard from him again. I was nervous because in the two weeks of his absence, other things happened in those two weeks. We were getting ready for church, my 12 yr. old told me she was not going. She said she was not and I became angry and pushed her on the bed and she almost fell in the window. I had to act very fast to keep her from falling through the window. I saved her i was very nervous afterwards. She was crying and so was I. But we still went to church. A few days later I was scheduled to work a 16 hour shift. 6:45 am to 11:15pm. I arrived home about 11:45 PM. As I entered the living room, it was quiet. I entered the hallway to their room, I cold hear them crying. I found them holding each other crying. I said what is the matter. They both pointed to the other twin bed. the mattress skirt had been cut off and the scissors was lying on the floor. I askeed who did that. They explained the scissors came through the door and started cutting the skirt. I told them I did not believe them. Three nights later i worked another 16 hours. I came home and the 9 yr. old was up wathing TV and she said she was waiting for me. I was preparing to take a bath and turned the covers down on my bed. I met my 12 yr. in the hall. Her eyes was open and very red. She went passed me and pulled the covers up on my bed and replaced the pillows.I told her, oh, no Baby girl, mother is going to bed. She continued to walk up to me and stood there. She would not respond to any questions. I thought she was sleep walking. I started to wash her face with a warm wash cloth. She started to scream and cry. I calmed her down and walked her back to bed. I knew then something was wrong and I needed to move. Whenever I work long hours I would Leave them with my mother. Nothing ever happened strange at my mother's house. I came home one night from working two 16 hr days. I was closing my eyes and something came and hit my bed and called my name. It was on then because my children was at my mom's and I delt with it that night. I held my Bible and prayed and called on the lord. I could go on and on. But, Whatever was there in that house was pure evil. I did every thing I knew and with the help of my mother and the lord, I survived until I could move.

getting away from my story here, sorry... well several months later, I was feeding my other cats, called to them to come and eat and all of a sudden somthing COLD AND FURRY RUBBED UP AGAINST MY LEG, I KNEW IT WAS MY BOOTSIE AND SPOKE TO HER, SHE STAYED QUITE AWHILE AND
SHE COMES AROUND EVERY NOW AND AGAIN, SO I am here to tell anyone who wants to believe my very TRUE STORY that our animals as well as people live on in spirit even after death. Always wanted to go but for some odd reason something always came up. I just think God didnt want me close to the house. Now i live in texas and never saw the house.

Sad to say but it is a proven fact that a local real estate agent made the story up and he admitted that he and the owner of the house concocted the whole story. But it sure made for a good read and movie. And put the little known town on the map. Point: Don't be a sap.

one of the Lutz children wrote about his experiences, but haven't read. I live very near to Amityville, and am too creeped out to go up the block and past the house EVER. They get tons of voyeurs every year around Halloween; I don't know if true or not; but don't want to expose myself to any negative energy, just in case.
FYI stay away from ouija boards people; don't open doors to unknown areas.

I believe that strange things can happen, I have seen things that I can not explain. I do know television worked at a couple of them and to get people to pay to see something it is usually made out to be a bit more than the way it was told. By the way, both the Lutz have passed on. The only thing that makes it more believable is they were only there 28 days. How could they have gotten in debt and not made their house payment. After you close it is usually close to 60 days before you make your first payment. I can't see anyone buying a house and leaving that soon, especially one as gorgeous as that. Something terrifying would have to happen to get me to move. They bought the house for some where around 100,000, payment could not have been that much. I would have done what ever it took to make it work. So I do believe something might have scared the crap out of them. An Dallas, Tx

Ironically I just saw Amityville Horror, the lastest movie on this. I do believe these horrors exist. I have been through circumstances so i can relate. I didn't like the movie because it was disturbing. I guess evil makes my stomach turn. I felt so bad for the victims though. Only lessons ive learned from movie is to keep faith in God, knowing he can protect you. The other lesson is to BEWARE OF WHAT HOUSE YOU BUY. Go with instincts and not give into things, because the other person pressure you into. Thats what happened in movie. Usually we regret not listening to our instincts.

I believe the Amityville Story to be true. I myself have also had paranormal experieneces.19 years ago, my oldest child was only 5 months old. It was summer time and very hot.We lived in an old house and Joe (my husband)always said something wasn't right. He was constantly hearing noises and things coming up missing. One night we laid down to sleep, the baby beside us in her playpen. Joe fell asleep first, Iwas drifting off close behind. We had our bed pushed against the wall directly by the window, trying to catch a breeze. Just then I got this feeling, suddenly I was paralyzed with fear, I couldn't move. I laid there and watched this shadowy figure climb thru the window, one leg at a time, directly in our bed. It was laying down in between us!! All the sudden Joe woke up and began swinging in the air (as if he was fighting). This shook me and I was finally able to move. We both jumped up and ran for the door. A mattress and dreeser had been moved in front of the door,(we didn't see that happen and we didn't put the items there). Joe had to physically throw them aside so we could get out.We ran down the stairs screaming, in tears (the both of us),crying to his mother who was asleep. We obviously woke her up with all the noise, and we told her what had just happened. She looked at us,she believed us, then asked "Well, where's your baby?" We left our poor little baby behind!! And if that wasn't bad enough, we refused to go get her!! His mother went and got her but never let us forget it and told us we better start praying.

Hello,
Yes I have seen the Amityville Horror Movie and I myself can not honestly say that these things are not true. The reason is because I believe that there is evil and good ... I also believe that bad spritis can make people do strange things.. Just like the true story "SON OF SAM" You know where the demonic dog was telling the man to kill people and he was actually doing it. So Demonic Spirits do talk to people and if you are week they can posess you and take over your body.

Hello all!
I happened to live in the town where they filmed the movie, Toms River, NJ. What I can say, is that during filming and afterwards, wierd stuff starting happening in the house used in the movie. Over the years, things got so bad apparrently, that the owners actually had the house moved to the back of the property (also because traffic would back up when drivers would slow down to look at the house!) The top 2 windows were also chaged, so they don't look like eyes so much anymore. I haven't heard any stories recently, but I bet you can find backstories on the net!
Blessings to all! : )

Then she reached out and kiss me on my forehead and said she love me and in turn I said love you too and such calm come over me. I just wanted to share my story with you.

I did read the book and saw the movie and like everyone else, have seen the documentaries about it possibly being a hoax. With the evidence that was provided it's kinda hard to disagree that it wasn't an overly, exaggerated hoax.
On the other hand, knowing the background of the house's history, the murders and things like that, I can see how there would be a bad element dwelling in the house.
I believe that the people who live in a house are the one's who contribute to the atmosphere and vibe. It's all is based on your personality. Are you a happy person, depressed person, angry person, mean person? This opens so many doors to negative or positive energy and gives the elements that are searching for a certain vibe to feed on to become stronger and more intense and possibly appear to you or bother you. Who knows what it is. A ghost, demon or poltergeist, or all of them. Then when the person(s) move away, the remaining theme of bad or good energy will continue building on to the next newcomer.

I really believe in ghosts and spirits, and that some are good and some are evil. I also believe that God will protect those who believe in Him from any evil in the world. I, personally have never had (to my knowledge) any paranormal experiences, although I'm very interested in the subject and kind of wish that I could experience something. Nevertheless, I think it's wise to keep an open mind about these things, and not judge those who have seen or felt things. Thanks for listening. Carol B. in South Carolina

Although Hollywood may have added to the drama to the movie I do believe in ghosts and hauntings.
When I was 17 I went to with a friend a place in Miami where a warlock of sorts lived. He said to use
a ouija board to contact spirits. Foolishly we did when we got home. We days we used it and felt like
something was hovering around us. When I got home that night I could hear breathing in my room. It was so loud that I got up to get my Mother to come and hear it. When I left the room it stopped. When we entered with my Mother it was not heard. When she said I was just having a dream and went back to bed it started again. I was terrified. Then the heart beat started . This pounding sound in the room. I thought it was my heart but it was not. I was so terrified by this and felt that someone was in the room with me watching me. It was not a friendly feeling either. So many strange things were happening to me during that time and for the next 10 yrs or more. I would have feelings and see things that would come true. I could tell you when the phone would ring or I would get a feeling that I would get a letter and it would be there. Then I would see a picture before my eyes like watching a movie and it would come true moments later. I predicted 5 accidents momemts before they would happen. I got married and in the house that my husband lived in the people had died. I never felt
comfortable living in that house. I could feel eyes
on me all the time. I never slept good in that house and when I did it was weird dreams and seeing things in our room. Bloody hands, feeling like someone sitting on our bed. I would wake up every night at 5 am and the light in the kitchen would be on over the stove. That happened for over a yr. Things started
to become missing. Photos, pictures, jewerly, etc.
I would put something on the table in the dining room and come back and it would be gone. All the fish in the fish tank were gone one day when we came home.
A black cat was sitting on the dining room table one day . How did it get in the house. The day we moved out and drove away to our new home our car stopped dead in the street and it was a brand new car. Were these things supernatural or a vivid imagination? I have no idea if they were supernatural or not but it was something that I will never forget. I lived in that house for 18 yrs. My daughter grew up in that house for 16 yrs and when we moved she said to me that
she never felt safe in that house. She always heard
scraping noises and sounds that would scare her. She always felt someone by her bed. I said why did you not tell me and she said she was afraid. I did ever tell her things cause I did not want her to be afraid of her own home and all along she was having her own
fears. When we found out that the people who lived in the house died in the room where my daughter slept I could not believe it. I often wondered if the people who bought the house had the same experiences.

I now live in a house in Va. that was built in 1890.
I have never felt a spirit or any weird things in this house.

Well, the Amityville Horror may have been a hoax, but who's to say that ghosts/spirits aren't real? I have had experiences in my life where I felt a house was haunted. There are several members of my family (myself included) that have certain psychic abilties; my aunt being #1 in that area. There are so many people who say all this is fake and it's all in our minds. What they don't understand is that there are many people on this earth who do have the ability to see/hear spirits because of the positive (or negative) energies that they have and give off. Disbelievers are just folks with closed minds. My first experience with a ghost was when I was 10 years old. I was alone in the house one morning (my father was already at work) I heard noises in the livingroom that I know were not normal. I heard footsteps in the hallway. Our house was made of redwood and the hardwood floors creaked easily. I later found out it was my uncle saying goodbye. He took his life just minutes before my encounter. Since then, I've always had my mind open to whatever may come to me. One thing is for sure, I can definately tell you if a house is haunted. I may not be able to communicate with a spirit, but I can definately feel its presence. My eldest son has some very strong abilites that I know he inherited from my side of the family. All I have to say people is please, have an open mind and heart. We cannot honestly believe that humans are the only inhabitants of this world, whether this plane or another. People who can see and/or communicate with spirits are not crazy, we were just given a gift others cannot comprehend.

The Amityville Horror may have been a hoax; but that's not to say the ghosts and spirits are not real. I have had many experiences where I was in the presence of spirits. Some nice and some not so nice. My first experience was when I was 10. I lost a favorite family member one morning and was confronted by his spirit - to tell me goodbye. I didn't know who it was at first - not until my aunt told me what happened to my uncle. That was when I realized who that spirit was. Since then, I discovered I have some psychic abilities and just always listen to my gut instincts. It's hard to explain - but I'll tell you one thing - I can tell if a house is haunted or not. I may not actually contact the house spirit, but I will definately feel it's presence. To all who think this stuff is not real, well, that is just the workings of a closed mind. You can't seriously believe that the people of earth are the ONLY inhabitants of this world! It's impossible. We have spirits all over the place. You just never know when one will want its presence known. So like I said, don't have a closed mind - open it wide and you will see a lot more than you ever imagined.
Comment #87 by MARGIE on September 22, 2009
The Amityville movie may have been a hoax. But that is not to say that ghosts and such are not real. I've had many experiences in my life where I believe I was contacted by a spirit and it was a bit scary; as I was only 10 years old the first time. It's just that there are certain people in this world who are more apt to be contacted by spirits or see spirits because of their positive (or negative) energies and actually have psychic abilities. Maybe not the kind of abilities you see on TV - actual REAL mediums are hard to find. You never know who you can trust. There are several memebers of my family (myself included) that have some of these abilities. Mine are mostly subtle signs but I can definately tell you if a house may be haunted. It's just a feeling you get in the pit of your soul. It's hard to explain. My aunt has very strong abilities that I will not go into detail here. But, I'll tell you one thing; if someone tells me that ghosts/spirits don't exist? Well, I just hope they don't have a nasty realization one day that would scar them for life. All I say is ALWAYS have an open mind. We cannot be so self-centered and actually think that the people on earth are the only ones inhabiting this world - this plane and others.

I believe there are spirits that are sometimes attached to a house. I lived in a house that was built in 1911 once and I could hear voices and music from the 1950's One night I was home alone babysitting my roommates children when my dog started going crazy he ran around our dinningroom and kitchen barking and growling at the air the next thing I heard was music and a group of women and men talking and laughing like they were having a party in our house. My dog jumped up on the couch next to me and started growling with his hair on end. I got so scared I almost grabed the children and left the house. I called my roommate and she came right home. They say that dogs can see things that people can't. I think my dog saw something in the house that night that I couldn't see but I heard it.I llive in a iron ore minning town in northern Minnesota and I think the old minners that lived in the house are still there. I don't live there anymore I have. moved since then. there have been other people who have rented the house after us but I don't know if they have seen or heard any thing in the house.- Mary Lindgren, Mt Iron, Minnesota

I saw the orginal movie & I enjoyed it. I beleve in Heaven (Faith) & I believe in Hell. (It's right here on Earth!) I also believe that there are many things we simply cannot explain. I've had some supernatural things happen to me, and the only reason I don't share those stories is because people tend to think I'm lying, or I'm crazy! I don't lie. Well not all that often. And crazy? Well, not anymore or less then the average person. Seriously, there are things out there most of us have witnessed, so we really are not alone. I mean REAL things that have happened to us, but we're afraid to share. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to share.

I have to agree with those that were living near the area and said The Amityville story was a hoax. I saw the movie and it just didn't ring true, especially after a part two emerged.

I do believe it is true that the guy killed his family, but according to the movie there had been numerous tortures and killings beforehand and these people were trapped in the walls. Remember, the dog helped George find the "portal to hell." None of these previous murders have been proven or attested to by anyone. Supposedly, it was the house being already haunted that made Defao (sp?) kill his family.

In reality, I think it is as another person said-Ronald Defao was an addict and quite disturbed. He was probably already messed up in the head but drugs can have serious consequences in such a person. There may have been some bad "karma" in the house after the murders, but not to the extent that movie depicted. It is the Amityville Hoax.

It may be that Kathy Lutze was indeed a nice person as someone else said, but trying to get out of bad debt can make you do some crazy stuff. Creating a hoax while not actually hurting anyone is not all that unforgivable and actually understandable. I wish I could think up some plausible story to relieve some of my debt without actually harming someone!

All that being said, I do believe in the supernatural and an afterlife. I just don't believe the Amityville movies.

I have read with interest some of the stories told here about being revisted my friends or family members after a death. I do believe that. I believe I saw an angel trying to tell me to go to the hospital when my father was ill and dying. I had gone to the beach on a day of misty rain. I turned and saw a blonde haired man up on the dunes. I don't know what made me look. I recall being annoyed that my solitude was interrupted.

The rain started to pick up and I figured I should leave. I did not see the man and it had been less than a minute from me seeing him. I saw no footprints ahead of mine, no one walking, on a bike or in a car and no other sign of any other car having been in the parking lot but mine.

I forgot the man and was just instantly obsessed with the idea of going to the hospital. It was the last time I spoke to my father. I do believe that man was an angel or my father's spirit trying to warn me.

There were other incidents after his death for both me and my mother, including him discussing things with me in a dream. I do not think it was a dream. It all ended a few months after he died. I think like the woman and her brother that died of Aids, my dad was trying to tell me all was well and to help take care of my mom and my niece, which I did.

Sadly, my mom recently passed. I have not felt as much of a connection which bothers me. We were very close but she had advanced Alzheimers on her death and no longer knew me. Could it be that some people have an easier time passing and that is why I haven't felt her presence like I did my dad's? Any thoughts on this?

Oh, one other comment. A lady wrote of a little girl named Chelsea living in her house. Should they not try to help this young lady cross over? I would contact someone.

I am believer in ghosts, etc. I have a friendly male ghost lives with us and more visits with us past 6 years now in Austin, Minnesota. He always around and follow me where ever I go. He kissed me and touched me and inside me feels very wonderful, better than hot tub once awhile at night. I have a picture of him and seen apparition of him one night. I heard a man voice once awhile. I've seen orbs floating around in air once awhile.

I, too, saw this movie. It was presented as being an actual event in life. Some time after the movie was made, it hit the media that this story was not true. I admit that a few unusual things might have happened there, but according to the media, the story was found to be fiction. Sorry to disappoint you.

I never saw the movie, or wish to. The hauntings are doue to the unrest of soul that are trapped. There are some sould that can be helped but there are also many demonic souls that refuse to leave. And its best to leave them alone and make sure that you do not open the vortex of the unknown. I am a medium also. But there are some demonic spirts that even we cannot move out.

Yes, I read saw the movie, but considering I'm a spiritual medium and feel things like that in any home, it makes me shudder thinking about it. I have seen things that would make your hair stand on end, so do me a favor and don't walk into a REAL haunted house without someone (like me) who knows how to protect you. Now there are a lot of fake haunted houses and a lot of fake people who claim they can see things like I can. I'll tell you one thing however. My bf won't go anywhere without me if he thinks a place is haunted. On another note, "haunted" houses aren't truly haunted as people think they are. The hauntings are usually poor souls stuck there in the house and not able to leave unless someone like myself can free them. DON'T try doing that on your own!! Yes they go to heaven or hell but sometimes they can't due to unresolved conflict or unfinished business. Some places are just occupied by demons. And seeing it to believe it? Sure if you want but wait till something happens to you and you might change your mind^^

I am from Long Island and lived just a few miles from Amityville. The house is there but its' facade was changed for the making of the movie and since it again has been sold, the new owners have removed the third story to disuade on lookers and curiousity seekers.
It was later claimed that the whole thing was a hoax that took place over wine one evening with the next door neighbors. They had a dog named Jodi that looked like a pig and hence the spiritual presence of Jodi the pig. The rest of the story was contrived into the "haunted tale" that has been repeated and movies remade over the years. Sorry guys, this is is not true, just a very good campy story.

My brother died in 1992 from Aids. I was one of the last people to see him in the hospital and he was swollen and didn't look like himself the morning before he died and I last saw him. I was sad and troubled about the loss of my brother but months later, when on a cruise with my sister and mother, our deck had the card room and hanging in that room was a painting of the King of Hearts that looked exactly like my brother! About a month later, my brother visited me in a dream and the dream was he walked into my house with my sister and I was cooking in the kitchen. I was so pleased to see him and he looked like himself, again, I told him he looked so well and he told me he was fine. I walked around in a daze for a few days after and now realize he came to visit me to show me he was okay and he has never come back to visit again.

My aunt and uncle lived across the street and I visited them many times during the timeline of these events. No one, not the neighbors or anyone else heard anything. Yes, Ronald DeFeo did kill his family there but the rest is all false. If the windows and doors were breaking and smashing wouldn't the neighbors hear it? The truth is the Lutz's couldn't make the mortgage payments and made it all up to get out of the contract and to make money.

Is the Amityville house still there? Is it still empty? If so, why doesn't the city just bulldoze the place and make a small park out of it? No sense it letting a vacant haunted house clutter up a nice neighborhood street.

I am a true believer in Ghosts/Spirit but I also know that the Lutzes lied about the events in the amittyville home. Their supposed haunting was fabricated for money they would receive from the movie and book rights. There is a family in that home and they have been there for sometime. they have never experienced anything. Also the doors and windows that blew out would need new wood work done to repair them and these items still have the original moldings.Sorry to burst any bubbles.

I lived in Copiague @ the time of the shooting (right next to Amityville) and my husband @ that time knew defeo. Told me he was a heroine addict and quite a seedy character. It was a terrible time. There was a sign in front of the house that said high hopes. I do believe what happened and maybe hollywood did overexagerate but that's hollywood. I have lived in many places that were haunted, have seen ghosts, apparitions, angels & demons and I do know that evil begets evil. If a door is opened evil will come in. There is no doubt. When this vortex is opened it will reek havoc on those around. It will dispurse when the energy is gone or dwindled. I would say that the door was opened when the murders happened and it was ghastly and as evil as evil can get and it would linger till the energy dwindled from the horror that happened. Murdering 6 people is as gruesome as things can get and the demonic forces that were in that house were definitely going to stay a while. They will not linger forever. I have to say that I would not have moved into that house even if were for free. Our hearts went out to the family of this poor family and the son did do it. Kathy Lutz went thru a bad divorce about a year before because of an abusive husband and then married the Lutz man and was looking forward to a fresh start with her new husband. They didn't hardly make any money from the movie (about 5,000.00), it was the writer and lawyer that made the money. The evil was still there full stength when they moved in so it probably was true. I also wanted to say that when the vortex is opened to demons it will take more then asking it to leave because it will leave but another 2 will come in. Kathy Lutz was a nice gal and wouldn't have had a reason to defraud anyone. She just wanted a fresh start @ her new life.

I believe all these ghostly encounters, because when my sister passed away in 2005, she appeared to me in her kitchen, and told me to take care of her grandbabies. She said she was sorry for leaving us so soon, but it was her time. I just fell to my knees and cried. That is a fact.

I live with one of my sons and his family. We moved to Louiseville, KY in 1997. I was to care for my granddaughter and her parents were in turn going to take care of me and my bills. We rented a basement apartment in a three story building that was the size of a home. My granddaughter was 3 years-old at the time, when she would come and ask for something to eat like a sandwich or cookies and milk, I always had to make two seperate dishes because one was for her and the other was for Chelsea(we thought she was an imaginary friend). Well, one night her mom and I were playing cards in the kitchen and Kendra and her dad were watching T.V. in living room. I kept feeling this cool breeze go past me and all of a sudden someone touched my back and arm, very lightly, thinking it was Kendra I told her to stop. Her dad yelled from the other room that Kendra had not left his side. Again I felt someone rub their hand very softly up and down my arm, when I turned, thinking I was going to find Kendra, I saw this beautiful little girl about 5 years of age, she was smiling up at me and just wanted a hug. Needless to say it scared me for a minute, but she got her hug, then I asked Sandy(Kendra's mom) if she saw the little girl, she said no, what little girl? I told her I thought it must be Chelsea(Kendra's friend that she has been sharing so many meals and snacks with), I asked if her name was Chelsea and she shook her head yes.... Kendra came in the kitchen to get a cookie and said "hi" to Chelsea, like it was a natural thing to do.... I asked the landlords if a little girl by the name of Chelsea had ever lived in our apartment, I was told that there was a little 5 year-old girl that lived right up above our apartment, but her father had killed her about 10 years ago. They also told me that our apartment was Chelsea's safe place, because the family that lived there when she was killed had kept her from alot of beatings from her dad... They just didn't have her the night her dad killed her... They also said that this was the first time that anyone has asked about her since her death, so I explained to them what had been going on and they just smiled with tears in their eyes... I have always believed in the after life and reincarnation... I believe that Chelsea had found a little girl to be safe with again... We moved back to Michigan and Chelsea came with us.. She now plays with Kendra's little sister, Cierra, who is 5 years-old now. She also asks for two of everything to share with Chelsea... Kendra is 15 now so Chelsea has been wit us for 12 years.....

While I caution the use of the words as "ghost," "spirit," and/or "demon," I have to admit I have had similar experiences, though not so dramatic as the Amityville story. I once saw the documentary, "Children of the Grave" and I was scared. The proof is right there...such things exist. I am fascinated by the topic but my religious understanding includes caution against dabbling or discussing the topic lightly. Such topics should be handled by those who are trained to defend themselves. The discussing or dabbling of such matters by untrained individuals can bring horrific consequences...

This is a fact that we,my 5 friends and myself, investigated in 1974.
There was a house in Mumbai,India near Bandra Band Stand, opposite the beach itself, which was being built for almost 5 years and couldnot progress. This was a big multi storeyed building about 10-12 floors had been put up like Shells and they had been trying to build the Stairs but could not progress beyond level 1.The stairs kept on collapsing every time they were built. We were curious about this fact and ventured to the house and entered the building and saw chunks of Concrete slabs of at least 2 flights of steps had fallen and blocking the entrance beyond. It was like that another 6 years when I had revisited in 1980. I donot know what happened after that.We found out thta they tried all the tricks of seeing the ghosts out but could not.

I renovated an old farm house that was built 1930. I have seen a young man in homespun as well as two young children sitting on the upstairs bedroom floor playing.Of course when you looked directly at them, they disappeared. My girlfriend spent the night in the upstairs bedroom and felt someone sit on the side of the bed. Thinking it was one of my children whe reached out to reassure them, but noone was there. My daughter has also had someone put their hand on her back, and when she turned around, no one was there. So yes, I do believe in spirits. I told my daughter do do what I did. Tell the spirit that you do not like it when they scare you and ask them to please stop. They did. I feel reassured that any previous resident of this house is still looking out for it and is pleased that we brought it back and love living in it.

I have been told thruout our neighborhood that our land adjacent to our home was an Indian Burial Ground. I found the story amusing but never researched the matter. I had often discussed selling some acreage near the main road and preserving the rest. When my son received his first digital camera we were completely overwhelmed with bewilderment when we saw the images on the photographs he thought was an innocent picture of his sister at sunset. Our dog in the photo was staring at them (the images)with her tail between her legs as well sensing fear. The images are very clear and I now take the matter very seriously. I respectfully will not sell the land and will begin to research in depth. I am a God fearing Catholic who also appreciates Buddhism and am mostly in search of God and attempting to adhere to those principals. This has just convinced me - The spirit world - Its real and it is probably a combination of evil and positive forces. I believe its what we invite in or are succeptible to. Or perhaps they see a cataclysmic event and are hoping to communicate. I would go into depth on this site but am very sensitive to this recent experience and am handling delicately.
Comment #138 by Catherine on September 21, 2009
Cathy,

They say when a gruesome event happens in a house, it possibly could be haunted. I believe in ghost and believe I have seen one. But the Amityville Horror movie was so far exaggerated for the purpose of making money. Maybe something did or did not haunt that house, we will never know, but movies always exaggerate things to make it scarier so you will pay to see it.

You know I really don't believe in ghosts or in the supernatural. I do believe in Heaven & Hell & I believe that what they saw was the devil & his Demons. If there were spirits other than angels or devils Jesus would have told us in his book. I have never seen a spirit & I don't think I ever will. I do believe that what he said was true about someone talking in his head & telling him to murder his family. I think that I'm the only here that believes that.

The house is still there - my brother went to college on Long Island. It has been redecorated from the outside so that it does not have the evil eyes looking out to the lake. Yes - as a college rite of passage, they do make the trek up there to touch the fence or look at the house. Apparently, its still spooky but only because of the Hollywood hype.

I'm a firm believer in spirits, ghosts, etc. I've seen them, communed with them and been frightend by them. Like any bully, all they want is attention. Once you stop paying attention to their negative actions, they stop trying to get your attention. They are everywhere - good & bad. Just keep your wits about you & your faith in whatever you believe.

I Have seen all the movies ,the latest was the Best!I Believe Amityville Possession to be True . I am a True Believer,I am a Ordained Spiritualist priest! Sounds like there is a Curse on the house and or Land ! The Restless spirits and Demons cause Physical Harm and Paranormal activity !These spirits are in my opinion sent or Drawn to places or people. I live in Florida,a Place of very old and violent spanish Past ! And I see spirits often, not as violent as Amityville but mischievous as they get, I have seen and done Exorcism's and house cleansing. And I Have seen Demonic possession in people and Places. Just Look for the signs and Be open. The easiest Part is to Just Believe !I deal with Spirits Dark and Light all the time and they are very Real ! The realm of the spirit is just a Breath Away . Sometimes you should trust more than what you can Just see with your eyes !A virus is real but only in the last century were we able to see them,But they were there all along !And Science is making new ways to see, hear and photo the spirit world !!!

I have seen the movie and I believe that much of it could be true. Just like the Haunting in CT movie that is based on truth but has been exagerated a bit for the movie. As for the comment on wicca was your Boyfiend practicing wicca or witchcraft there is a difference. Wicca is a nature based religion where the rituals are not really magic in themselves but have to do with nature and not entities. They also tend to believe in the God and the Goddess. They don't really believe in hell and they don't believe in satan. I am a wiccan myself and I practice witchcraft. But I have never had anything like that happen to me due to my religion or religious practices. I am senstive to spirits and can sense them when they are around. I used to live in my in-laws house and there was a spirit there that bothered me. It kept telling me to leave and left scratches on my body and would move items. I told the spirit that if it wanted me to leave it would have to start bothering my husband (who is not sensitive at all) and I didn't have controll over the fact that I lived there since we were having finacial issues at the time. After that the spirit was still there but it left me alone. When my grandfather died I could sense him as well at my grnadmother's house but when my grandmother died the house felt empty neither one of them were there anymore... only the spirit of their dog but he was there because he died after they were both gone. Once when I has just started seeing my now husband I had stayed overnight and I woke up in the middle of the night and there was a thin woman at the end of the bed with short blond hair wearing a white dress, she was bending over with her back to me but I didn't feel frightened or anything I just went back to sleep. Even at my parent's house I can sense our old family dog there, and lots of the time spirits visit me in my dreams. There are spirits everywhere good and bad. You just have to be careful.

I am going to be praying for you. Yes i have had several supernatural encounters throughout my life and still do. I am a Christian and a native american. I just really wanted to say that you shouldn't try to interpret what you obviuosly haven't read. The last sentence of the bible doesnt say that if you add or take away from it you're committing blasphemies, it says that whomsoever shall add or take away from it will have those curses fall upon them. However, after reading your short novel, I'd say you have more important things you need to worry about. Blessings upon your daughter.

My boyfriends house was haunted. He said there was knocking on the walls, things being moved in his house, being push over, etc. One time when I was there the little wind chime started clinking. I saw one of the chimes bar move. He messed around with the Wicken stuff and probably summoned a spirit. I told him the Bible said to stay away from such things. He later moved in with me and one day the bedroom door kept shutting all by itself while he was at work, this continued to happen for days. He said it was the bomber jacket hanging on the back of the door. Finally I said "in the name of Jesus leave my house", it worked, no more incidences. The bomber jacket is still on the back of the door. Stay away from Wicken everybody, you don't know what you may invite into your home!

Our mind has the unlimited powers to create things which actually don't exist?. Has anyone seen GOD; many will say we have. Well actually its the state and Power of mind; which brings to life the unnoticed and invisible.
The same happens for Ghosts.

There is nothing like Ghosts. Its the game which our mind plays with us sometimes.

I believe God or Supreme Power exists but haven't seen him. Its faith within me for him; which makes me feel his presence....

There were no hauntings in the house for any of the subsequent dwellers, also, one of Butch Defeo's account of the night his fmily was killed (the one that some evidence to support) is that he, his sister and some friends were in on it and just supposed to kill the parents, he ran out after a friend that left the scene and when he returned, he saw that all his siblings were killed as well, he became enraged at his sister that had murdered them, threw her and she hit her head and was unonsciouse and he then shot her. I say this has corroberative evidence, because the sister had gunpwder residue on her clothes. Butch made up many stories and said that he made up the supernatural story just trying to get away with the act. When the Luts' were sued by people who lived peacefully in the house after them, for telling the lies about the house and causing chaos in their lives by people mobbing the house, they admitted in court that it was all rubbish. The motive was to actually help get a retrial for Butch it seems. There are so many claims out there it is difficult to sort through it all, but my personl opinion at this point, after sorting through tons of data on the subject is that the AmityVille House was never a valid Haunting, just lies made up by liars. But for the record, in the last place we lived my baby was regularly carrying on baby talk with an unseen, but apparently friendly visitor, then one night I was scared half out of my wits in the basement when a dark spirit very clearly presented itself to me. I asked my neighbor (we lived in row homes) if anyone else had similar experiences and she very seriously said "yes, these places are haunted or somthing, because we all experience it". One night I couldn't sleep, I felt somthing evil in the air, I actaully drove out to get some Kahlua and decafe coffie in the night to try to just get out of the fog and relax myself. I came home, got in bed with my husband and we were talking about how I felt somthing evil in the air and then I heard a noise and looked out the window, I saw someteens trying to get in a car, the guy in the car got away from them and one girl got mad and threw her shoe or somthing at the car. Later, the police showed up and I told them what I'd seen. What was going on went somthing like this...a couple of row homes down from ours some teens were partying, a dsepute over a girl lead to one stabbing the other in the gut...remember, these kids are partying together, so the thought is that they are friends. Well, the other kids decided that the thing to do was to throw the victm...though he ws alive and lert, off the Francis Scott Key Bridge or somthing like that, but one young man decided he was going to save him and he actually had to fight off all the other kids, while trying to get this kid that has been stabbed in the gut in his car and to the hospital, which he managed to do, but the battle that ensued over his rescue efforts, just increased the amount of internal damage and he passed away. Now what would come over a group of teens, to decide to throw him off a bridge rather than get him to a hospital? They were very determind and fighting to keep the only one apparently impervious to the evil in the air, from saving this poor kid? The man who lived in my house after I moved out was killed by a fatal fall down the basement steps. When my daughter was 3 and we'd been living here about 6 months, we were looking at pictures of us in the row home and she asked me were there any pictures of the people that used to lived with us there, I showed her a picture of a couple of the neighbors nd explined that they didn't lived with us,it's just that our houses were attached, she said, well I know they were our neighbors, but there were those other people that did live in our house with us. I reinforced that it was only our family, living in the house. She "reminded" me of the nice old man that would tell her stories when she was in her crib and he would stay in her room with her whenever I wasn't with her, he stayed with her and there was the mean person, but nobody let him near her. What was funny about that was that regularly we would come up stairs to see her sitting up in her crib and either just quietly fidgeting with her stuffed toy, like she would when I was telling her a story, or babbling ( then talking once she was more fluent) in what was an assumed make believe conversation. Once I was nursing her and she swung around and said "hi!" as if somone had just come in the room, no one I could see had, and she continued to periodiclly babble in the direction of the end of the bed. Hey Jodi...ever heard of pergatory? I'm just saying, if you really study, using interlinears and history books, you'll learn not to be so sure that you KNOW anything. There is all sorts of controversy over some of the Biblical content, that stories date back to before the bible even says they occured. That the book of revelations was not attached to the Bible when it said "anyone who adds to or takes away from this book is guilty of blasfeme? It has since been added to the bible? Have you notice that in the bible it says that God cannot be in our presence because of our sin and he has defined what those sins are...murder, jealousy, anger, judging least ye too should be judged. Yet many churches will excommunicate people for getting caught commiting a sin, as if they don't themselves every day, or as if anyone has ever been brought to the lord by being kicked out of the church, the bible accuses god of being jelous and angry and of having us murder people who have failed to assimulate! So remind me again, why can't he be in our presence? Sounds to me like the bible has him as a hippocite and sinner by his own definition. And why was "Gods" name omitted from the Bible? Anything can be called God, my husband has several dammits he referes to as gods often enough! I'm thinkin we have some documents that told us bout "God" and Jesus and the Holy Spirit and we compiled them with a bunch of blasfemous crap and anybody, like that Warren guy who says God can treat us any bad way he likes because he made us, is going to be given a very special time out corner in heaven, a place in which he can contemplate just how he could have prioritised truth over ancient fiction in order to spread a truth about God and not brainwashing people into believing blasfemous lies that have caused more crimes to be committed in the name of religon, than any Mobster had ever accomplished and more people who can't be brinwashed into not seeing through the obvious failousies of the churches, people in them and bible, so they loose all faith. Very few are like me and believe in God and Jesus, but take the good and reject all I think came from man and not god, in the bible.

I live in a old house that was built in 1905. I was watching tv one night and my stair way light was on. There was a light switch to the light fixture at the bottom of the stairway and at the top of the stairway. The light went off so I thought the light burned out then about 5 minutes later the light came on. There was no power surge. The remote control has fallen off the coffee table a few times along with misplaced keys. I think I am a believer.

what i think is weird is that my oldest nephew and i and 2 of the surviving litter of 4 kittens were watching the original amityville horror movie on dvd and when i checked my email i received an message from this site. so naturally i would check it out knowing that it wasnt spam that slipped through the cracks. when i opened the message up, lo and behold, the topic is about amityville. freaky huh.

other people moved in/out of the infamous house and they never had any issues w/ anything paranormal. thats what i read. cant remember where though.

to whoever asked if the house is still around or not, i think its still there. too far for me to travel but if youre nearby check it.

i work at a country inn that was built in the 1850s. it used to be a single private residense before my boss bought it and turned it into a hotel, restaurant, tourist attraction. on the property by the one garage there are two stones stating the original owners' wives names, dates of death and there ages. sometimes when im cleaning up in the restaurant[s] [theres two], i would sometimes see something go past me from the corner of my eyes. so naturally i would turn around and sense nothing. so i resume my lonely duties. somedays the metal spoons, tongs and ladles would jingle and sway on their own. and there would be a cold spot behind the line. usually the cold and clanging happen in the winter time. earlier this year while waiting for my turn to get my taxes filed, some guy said that he used to work wher ei do now as a cook for the upstairs kitchen. he had an 'encounter' of some sorts and told the manager that he couldnt work there anymore.

I believe in ghosts spirirts what ever you want to call them. i have witnessed many strange things, but the weirdest thing that I ve heard came from my Mother. She lives in an old old house on a lake in Wisconsin and she knows there is something in her house. She has seen a lady in old time clothing the long dresses and such in her house going up and down the stairs and in the hallways upstairs which to me is very creepy it does not happen all the time though. They hear the door knocker all the time in the winter go to answere the door and there is no one there no foot prints in the snow either so that is also creepy but the creepiest thing yet happend to her she was getting ready to go to bed and thought to get her Sears credit card out of her drawer where she keeps her cards well she puts it on her dresser so she will remember to bring it shopping the following day. My Mother and Stepfather take a day out of a month to do thier big shopping in the cities they live way out in the country so like the Wal-mart is even 40 minutes away so anyways they were going to be going to Sears so she gets her card out and the next day she is shopping at Sears and the cashier questions my mom about the card saying the name on the card is a gentlemans name (I can't remember the guys name) but my moms like what let me see that and shes freaking because here she is holding her card that she clearly looked at the night before and it had her name on it so my mom is like I don't understand how i got this card this is my card so anyways the cashier say's to her maybe the last time you were in your card got mixed up with someone else's card which my mom said I just looked at my card last night and it had my name on it so the cashier says well let me call the corporate and see if there were any stolen or lost cards so she tells whoever it is she is talking to on the phone the card number they tell her to hang up and they will get back to her, so about 20 minutes later my mom says the cashier had a really funny look on he face and she told my mom that the card she has is issued to a gentleman that had died qite a few years ago and it really freaked my mom out. So they of course issued my mom another card but that is really freaky well my mom and stepdad investigated the where abouts of this grntleman and It turns out he was an old farmer who lived in Minnesota and had died 12 years before his card showed up in my mom's hands. How strange is that? Creepy strange.

I realy believe in haunting. I lived in an appartment, I was vacuming the floor, when I thought my boyfriend came in, I was accting like I didn't see him. When he didn't say anything, I went into the bedroom, there wasn't any one there. I was the black figure a lot. When I tried to follow him, he was gone. My boyfriend laughed at me. He didn't believe in hauntings. When we moved to a house, I saw it again. Than he was gone. One night I was sitting in the hot tub and I saw him again. I don't know why, but I just said, oh your back. It's great to have hauntings if they are good ones, I would hate to incounter with a bad haunting.

My brother has also had same dreams and swears that he has seen our Grandfather. I do believe in spirits!! I have comfort at night knowing I can still be heard from my closests friends / family that are no longer with us. HOWEVER, I also believe that EVIL LIVES AMONG US... NOT HAUNTING US!!! I DO NOT beleive that spirits taunt and harrass the living.. The living do that!!!!. Heaven is peacefull, no more pain, no more anger, no more remorse or empathy.. PEACE.. And if I die from the cancer I have, Murder I may face, Car accident I cant prevent,,,,, I would only like to be able to rest in PEACE!!!! HOWEVER I SHALL GO!!!!

Iknow a person who lives in Amityville and close to this house. He said that the Lutz family made this up to gain publicity and money..which they got. No one that live there before or after the tragic event has felt a thing. Even though I belive in spirits, I don't believe this story merits a second thought. The house has been changed so it's unrecognizable from picture in the movie because of people hanging around and bothering the current residents. As far as Lorraine and Ed Warren saying (or not saying) something was felt there...well...I'm not sure. I am a fan of Lorraine, but whatever was felt was not disclosed so it's just heresay. By the way..Ed passed away a few years ago. I just think a horrible act of violence happened in this home and the family should just rest in peace.

I do believe in the spirit world. Several years ago, I was visiting a friend who lived in a different part of the City where I'm at. I saw something. It reminded me how Heat floats up from hot pavement. I mentioned that to my friend. He said there was a ghost who shared his house. He heard that someone had died in that house.
My mother died Dec. 31, 2007. For several months afterwards, my sister and I felt her presence. My sister lived with our mother the last several years of mother's life. Once, when my sister passed the room that was mom's, she smelled a strange odor, similar to lilac or lavendar. Later in the day, she noticed that odor was gone. Made us wonder if mom visited her. Several times I heard somone say my name. It was said very faintly almost like it was coming from a different dimension.
Another time, a stray dog came on my porch. It ended ujp living with me for several months. I ended up having to put it down. The next day, as I was leaving my house, I felt like the dog's spirit was sitting by the front flower bed. It was telling me that it was ok with having to put him to sleep. That he loved me no matter what. It was finally at peace with the world.
Once a co worker died under mysterious circumstances. One day, the sun showed through the window where I was sitting at work. I could fell the co worker's presence and felt him saying that everything was ok. He felt like he was in a better place and it was really beautiful where he was.

I believe in ghost, One night I was leaving work from the hospital. My cousin worked in security there was waiting next to my car to get a ride home. While I was driving him home it was a little misty out and when we got close to were he live I saw at least six figures crossing the street. I looked around and there were no living people in sight and the figures preceded across and disappeared. I asked my cousin did he see that?, and he replied yes I did,he replied I just wondered did you see it, i didn't want you to think I was crazy. My answer is yes spirits do reside on earth.

When I read the many comments on this site, it makes me feel so much better, because some times I question my sanity, due to my beliefs and my experiences in the paranormal area. I too believe in spirits, orbs, spectors, or whatever name you choose to describe the living dead. Personally, I would like to become even more knowledgeable in all paranormal activities than I already am. If theres anyone out there that is willing to educate me in anything in this field. I've had strange things take place in my life while I was awoke and asleep. I've had quite a few dreams come true. I've dreamed of places in a horrific type of way, to only wind up literally coming upon these places. I get peculiar feelings about things or people and later find out, I would be some what right.
I think I've even seen demons or these things that are small and shadowy walking around my estranged husband when he was going through one of his rages. I can name so many other things...But I'll save that for those who can give me deeper insight. I study these things extentively, but I'm sure theres always more out there in the other world to learn. I thank all of you on this blog...I don't feel so all alone and weird now. Rita Day

I believe in supernatural events. However, this is not one of those cases. The information in the original movie was "based" on actual events. Based very loosely on events, that is. It is true the murders did take place and the Lutz family did reside in the home after the murders. The Lutz family made fantastic claims of supernatural events that could not be proven and in fact "cashed in" in these claims by taking part in the movie deal. If you take the time to research these events, you will discover that the family later admitted to making false aligations.

I do believe in spirits but I am not afraid of them. I have seen alot of strange things in the past and in recent times. My mother had a weird experience when I was a child. My grandfather died in the house in which he and my grandmother lived with their children for many years. We had been living with my grandmother for awhile and my dad was out late, gambling as usual. I was about six at the time and my two sisters were 5 and 3. My mom was awakened in the middle of the night by the bed shaking violently. Since we lived in California she thought there was an earthquake, but when she looked around the room everything else was dead still. Then she thought my dad had come home late and was under the bed trying to scare her, because he often did things like that because he thought it was funny. Anyway, when she looked under the bed there was nothing there. Then, suddenly the bed stopped shaking. My mom was finally able to get back to sleep. When she woke up in the morning my dad was home and sleeping. She notice her purse was missing. When she went into the backyard, she found her purse in the backyard with her wallet laying a ways from it. We determined that my grandfather was probably trying to warn her the night before that someone was in the house. I think that was cool, but I don't know if I believe a spirit can hurt you, but they can certainly cause you to hurt yourself. Also, thank you for that story, I really enjoyed it, although it is very sad what happened to that family.

I dont think confidence has anything to with beleiving in ghost. I think spirits stay behind because they may feel it wasnt their time, unfinished business or ttheir not worthy to go toward the light. I feel some people are afraid of the unknown so they choose not to beleive in spirits and thats okay!

Humans would be pretty obnoxious to believe that we are the only existence in this little world of ours. We ARE NOT alone! Spirits are all around us all the time. Some make themselves known; most, I think, just go about their own business(whatever that is!). I am one of those that is sensitive to them; I too can sense them when they are nearby; they've been around me all my life. Wish I could understand why and how I could communicate with them. I too have stories: a man appearing in my closet quietly staring at me as I slept, a woman calling my name at my job in the midst of the all my co-workers, glass flying off my t.v. when there was no logical explanation for it moving, evil and peaceful spirits have visited me. Feel that there's a reason for it but don't have a clue. Good luck to all who come in contact with them. Remember to be friendly!! They can simply need friends so they don't feel so alone.

I believe that spirits haunt us from time to time, depending on location and reasons for their passing. I, myself, have heard them speak to me and they have also appeared to me as well. Once, at my last residence, where there was a strong presence, a broken piece of glass from a broken frame flew off the t.v. There was no rational explanation for it moving at all. I prayed frequently and told my spiritual friends about it so they prayed for us as well. One day, I felt their departure. For the rest of the year, I didn't dread bedtime at my apt. anymore. They are very aware of us. I just wish I could communicate with those that seem to want my attention.

I don't care what anyone thinks. Ghosts and other supernatural things exist. And so do aliens. I hate narrow minded people. I feel that once these people see these things for themselves, they should become a believer. Supernatural happenings are in the Bible before our time. Wake up you knuckle heads.

In the Western world, not much is known about reincarnation. We have all lived multiple millions of lifetimes and will probably continue to do so into the future.Actually, there is only one life which chooses when and where to come into physicality. When all lessons are learned that we want, we evolve to a higher level of consciousness.

This is a true story. We had bought some land that hadn't even been cleared out yet. It was still new property. We built a house on this land and moved in. I am a firm believer in ghosts. I was talking to my mother-in-law on the phone one day, when I had the strangest feeling someone was in the house. I even told my mother-in-law to wait just a minute while I check to see who was there. I had this feeling that I didn't want to look out of my room to see if any one was there.I finally stuck my head out of the door and eased my way down the hallway, but no-one was there. I got back on the phone and told my mother-in-law what was going on.On one occassion I had a gold fish tank in the living room, and that night I had left some water in my dish sink. When I went to let the water out, there was a dead gold fish in my sink, in the kitchen. On another occassion, we were sitting in the living room watching television when my dog starting barking at something behind the couch. Of course, I didn't see anything. There have been several things that have happened in our home, and yes, I do believe in ghosts. Two many things to describe. cathy in Georgia

Pray without ceasing. I think some spirits have lost their way home and need to be told to leave. Also, some places are just evil because of events. I recall my friend living in a house way out in the country where some devil worshipers had lived before her. There was a door in her room that led to the atic and it was painted red. She said she woke up one night to see her little dog all bristled up and staring at the door and barking hysterically. Also, things would fall from secure places and she heard sounds so much she finally moved out. Once when driving down the road away from the house her car just completely stopped for no reason and she had to push it down a hill. It was near an old graveyard and she walked around awhile and then it started again. Coincidence? Maybe. I have experienced the same kinds of events here in Hawaii. Once driving out to a halau (ancient Hawaiian Worship place) the stereo in my car just became silent. After driving away it all of a sudden blared out again. Loose wire? Maybe but who knows for sure. Never happened again. There are things in this life that we cannot explain. Good Lord protect us from things that go bump in the night.
Comment #196 by Sonia on September 20, 2009
I believe it since I and my family had also been the victims of demonic forces and so I cannot tell someone that it is not true and they did not experience it. It was probably about the time that the Lutz's experienced these and we also lived on Long Island. You will never get a non-believer or skeptic to accept it and forget trying. But, with all that I hold holy and precious, I swear that these things happned to me and my family.

At the same time, I have heard fairly reliable stories of this being an incredible hoax - something concocted by the owners of the house who moved in following the murders - it was a way for them to make some money.

I wish I still had copies of those accounts so I could share them, but it's been quite some time ago. I have experienced many similar things in my personal life so believe strange, paranormal things can indeed take place, but am totally clueless regarding the veracity of this story... It would be nice to know the truth!

I belive in haunts and demonic forces, I also believe one person is not strong enough to combat it,to truly fight it takes training and knowledge, christ was one man, he was trained well, we would be better off if we could learn what to do to guard ourselves. To know evil when we see it and know what to look for in different situations.

I will say that the book and movie did intrique me when it came out. I do believe that Good overcomes evil and I believe in saying the name of Jesus. I live in a house here in Baton Rouge, LA that had a tragic occurrence. A lady named Barbara shot herself in this home. I always felt there was something lingering (still in the home). I heard weird noises..one being like horses were galloping in the walls, knocks at the door etc. Then, about 4 to 5 years after living in this home (which I am still in today), my dog began growling and I looked up because I felt something tugging on my arm..and saw an apparition of a woman with a pink cashmere sweater etc.. I asked neighbors if they had known Barbara (the woman that died in my home) and one neighbors knew Barbara and said she was buried in a pink cashmere sweater. I still find it odd. It did bring my spiritual awareness to yet another level...I still will never forget it..but it did happen, it wasn't a dream..so who knows?? I do know there is a spiritual life after our mission is done on this earth. And, I do believe in Jesus

My comment? Well, it is very strange that an evil spirit could do that to a person. I always say, pray to God and I'm sure he'll give you the answer you seek if you really want an answer.

I think good thoughts and perhaps this is the way to get your answer from all the questions that needs to be answered. There are many questions that still need to be answered and others that does not need to be answered because it is too complicated for the mind to bear, if we do hear the truth.

Let us hope our journey here on earth won't take us out of comfort zone where we need to be at peace with ourselves and all people.

I believe that ghost often have messages, here is something I wrote from a visit (dream) It is copyrighted in my first book. I titled it I walk by
his side in the dust of war. A celestial glow strides across the land, as a rising moon casts deep shadows. My head spins as I feel a rush of guilt for being alive, while my brothers and sisters die.
There are ghosts all around. I feel like screaming but I can't scream.
Thunder shakes the ground or is it the bombings?
I feel fear but with his hand in mine, God leads me on. I seek no glory or revenge, just a safe road home.
An endeavor as far away as the comet streaking across the sky in a war seemingly without end.
It is brutal here in our camouflage gear in the humid darkness with the acrid smells of death all around.
Dazed and confused we push on. Circling in a void of dark dust, so far from home. Our bodies stretch across the dense black sand. This day will soon be forever gone. Tomorrow another mission begins, we fight on. This soldier has come to me many times in
my dreams, I can feel, smell, taste, hear and see everything around him as he walks beside me like I am there. I can see his face but everytime I try to see the name on his fatigues, I wake up. I am not sure who he is or even if I know him or he is just reaching
out to me for comfort. I feel he is a soldier ghost.

I do believe what happened at this house.Anything is possible, however the part about a stone lion coming to life?Well, I think that sounds made up.The ONLY way that part could have happened would be...That house or land would seriously have to be some kind of gateway to the underworld. That is the only way some kind of entity could gain that much power over someones mind or actual stone to move like that.If this is the case, why is this house or land not being bought and researched by a scientist!?I know gateways do exist, but are so rare and impossible to find.I have only heard of one other. So what is going on with this house now?Any more activity?

My family and I were camping one summer. My Mom and myself had to go to a grocery store to purchase food for the week. While driving, we drove past a house, my Mom stopped and backed up. We both looked at the house, looked at each other and then my Mom took off. No words were spoken at that time about the house. Later on we talked about the house with my Dad and we told him that the house looked just like the one in Amityville, NY. He asked where we seen it. Neither my Mom or myself could remember where exactly we seen the house. And I still can't till this very day.

I have often wondered what happens to all of our "electrical energy" once we pass on and I believe it is possible that it remains and this may be what people see as ghosts. I don't want to believe that our spirits stay here - I would hope that our spirits move on to be with the Lord. I do know that this story was fabricated and if you want to read about that you could use this link: http://www.answers.com/topic/the-amityville-horror

I believe something may have happened but I'm sure they hyped it up a bit. I live in a dble wide and my grand children will not sleep in one of the bedrms here. When one of them was 3 he told me there was a monster in that room.He will not even go to the bathroom next to it unless I close the door. He threw a fit several times and would not sleep in that room. My other granddaugher is only 2 she can't talk but I can't get her to sleep in that room she just screams and cries. I've tried sleeping in there just to see. It's suppose to be the kids rm when they come to visit and has toys in it. When I was in there several toys started making noise by themselves and my dog would sit up and growl toward the corner where my grandson said the monster was.

I am very familiar with this story. I used to hang with friends in Amityville, L.I and we would always drive by the infamous house. Today the house is still somewhat the same, but many things have changed for instance the boat house. The current owners were trying to erase some of the notariety that is now associated with the house. But I have seen photographs of the dead Defeo family after the murders, very sad and shocking. As far as the Lutz family, in later years they admitted that the stories that they told were a hoax, I do believe they were later sued for the money that they received due to the fabrication. Unfortunately, there will be opportunist people out there who will want to capitalize on very sad and unfortunate events...that is the Lutz family. SHAME ON YOU!!

The Amityville Horror was a movie not a documentary. I beileve in ghosts, angels, demons and all of them are of our own making. The first young man(now this was more than 20 years ago) said he was hearing voices in his head so he killed his family.Drugs, booze flashback?
When my bestfriend died I could feel his prense the same with my dad. Both were gentle feelings and I had to learn to let go so they could move on. Yes, some of do have to face our demons; while many give in and say "The devil made me do it." Yes there is a greater spirit and evil forces but the scope if made by men.So in closing - Don't drive any faster than your gaurden angle can fly. Live and prosper!

There are many layers' to the world we live in. The everyday world we live in only exsists because of our belief in it. Ghosts both good and bad, are usually the result of a spirit that has been trapped in this existence and not allowed to rest. Many times because of unfinished business or the inability for the spirit to accept its own death. Had discussed these things with my maternal grand and god mother when very young. We both had vivid, color "Interactive dreams" where people who have passed over actually can carry on a conversation and answer question! Sometimes they manifest themselves in different ways. I always can sense them by a shiver that runs up my spine and crosses my shoulders....sometimes you can see them out of the corner of your eyes....I believe both my grandparents are still with me like guardian angels, watching out for me......RSF

The house I grew up in was old when my parents moved in it belonged to my fathers side of the family. My earliest memories were in my bed room that I shared with my older sister. Some nights we could feel a presents of someone standing and hovering over our bed.Other times we could feel the presents sit on our bed as the old bed push down. Some times in our living room we could hear walking over our heads in the upstairs that was not used often. There was a place in Clayton Georgia that had buck dancing in the summer on Saturday nights and our older brother would take us . One night when we got home around 1:00 am before remotes for tv,s came out we were fighting about what to watch and all of a sudden the tv came on.We found out that in our bed room a man an alcoholic feel asleep while smoking and the bed started smoking and he died. We also had a past relative who had a mental disorder and he would sit on front part of porch a rock and yell he also died there. When I was around 11 or 12 I started having dreams about someone dying I could see a person in a casket and people all around disturbed about the person who died . I would have this dream around three time in a row and then a close family member would pass away this happed to me after my grandfather on my mothers side died.I witness these dreams and people would die around 5 to 6 times. I finally spoke to a lady who told me why this happened so I prayed to my grandfather to stop letting me know about people passing away and it stopped because it started even happening to strangers who had driven by or home.I had moved away when my father passed away at 40 due to a long illness and chronic alcohol problems. When I came I stayed by myself in my home and slept on the couch. When I was there before my dad had lost both legs and he would call on me all day and night for meds and to bring him the containers to go potty. That night when I slept on the couch I was awaken by my father yelling out Martha and I jumped off the couch to his room when I opened the door of course the bed was made and no one was there. Many years have passed and the people who lived accross the road told me that some nights the lights would come on and the electricty had been turn off and no one lived there. Later some people remodeled and tried to live there we talked them and they explained alot of things have gone on .Thay only lived there around 3 to 4 years. Another person thried to rent it for a soap making company and we also spoke to them and they had been also seen images on the back porch and heard walking. Now the last person did a major remodel even outside and she also has been spooked but will not speak about it much she has a major pottery business.Well that is the high lights. This was a home near Lake Burton in Northeast Georgia near Helen Georgia. It was a Wikle home who owned a large amount of property in that area and around my home everyone who lived close to us were are close family members.

#39 When you die you don't go straight to heaven or hell. Whether there is something like a waiting room or your just hanging out in the grave but no one goes to heaven or hell until judgment day. I grew up in what some may call a good christian home but I KNOW there are spirits. I don't think they are all bad or demons or anything like that. Not saying demons don't exist but I don't think they are the only one that inhabit homes or places after death. As far as the movie goes I loved it. More so liked the original. The only nice part about the remake was Ryan Reynolds with his shirt off ! Yummo lol anyways I highly doubt that most of the stuff in the movie was true But without it would people remember the movie probably not it probably would have been a flop.

PEOPLE FAIL TO REALIZE THAT IF THERE IS A GOD THAT THERE IS EVIL..IT IS THE NATURE OF THE BEAST AS THE OLD CLICHE GOES. I BELIEVE IN EVIL THE DEVIL AND SUPERNATURAL ENTITIES. WITCHCRAFT IS AN OLD RITUAL THAT BEGAN WITH GOOD INTENTIONS UNTIL..WHEITHER U ARE ATHEIST OR CHRISTIAN WE SEE PHENOMENA EVERYDAY THAT GOES UNEXPLAINED. AND BEING THAT I AM A CHRISTIANN, PART INDIAN AND THAT MY GRANDFATHER PRACTICED WITCHCRAFT; IM AWARE OF IT ALL. HOWEVER THAT TAKING OVER YOUR MIND THING AS MOVIES AND ALL PORTRAY IS A LITTLE FAR FETCHED. EVERY MAN HAS A WILL/WEAKNESSES U NAVIGATE YOUR DESTINY AND YOUR WILL IT CAN BE STRONGER THAN U THINK IT CAN. PRAYER IF TRULY APPLIED AS IN THE CASE OF THE PASTOR CANT BE RAN OFF; CAUSE IF THE ENTITY KNOWS THEY ARE REAL THEY WILL FLEE AS THE BIBLE SAYS.

I do believe that strange things happened in the house in Amityville, just as they do in so many other houses and places all over the world. But...when they made the movie..I beleive they sensationalized it a bit to draw in viewers. I believe in ghosts, hauntings and demons etc...don;'t think I have ever lived in a house that did not harbor disembodied spirits..have had some very hair-raising experiences too. And,,Jodi..there definitly is a heaven and hell..but, no one is going there until after the Day of Judgement..which means that, either we go to a waiting place or we just sleep in the grave until that time...I lean more toward the belief that there is an interim place between dying and our eventual eternal home.

I know from personal experience that ghosts do exist. My husband died tragically after being struck by a car in 2003. I, some months after his death would hear noises in the house, like heavy footsteps and the door would slam particularly if I was upset by something or someone. I decided a few months after his death the lawn needed to be mowed. He had always told me that was for either him or my son to do as he worried I was not strong enough, in other words not my job. My son failed to complete the task and I set about trying to mow the yard I looked up just in time to see the house door open and out walked my husband he wore a red t-shirt and blue jeans. As he walked out he did not look happy to see me struggle with the mower and as he stepped off the steps of the porch he disappeared. It was the only time I ever saw him. What he wore when he stepped out that door was not what I had buried him in. Other thing happened like the front door would open for no reason even when there was no wind.

Jodi, you will probably never have any encounters of the spiritual world because of your unbelief, but whether you believe in them or not - THEY DO EXIST. You believe in oxygen, don't you? You can't see it but you know it exists. I have seen many things in my life and I've been around for some time. My in-laws' home was haunted with things flying across the room, the grandfather clock striking 13 times, growls in the hall, pictures jumping off their nails and falling, doors slamming in front of us and many other scary things, but the most assuring thing was that we were believers in Jesus Christ and He always protects His children. These 'ghosts' are merely demons who in some cases have left one body (after death) to find another host and live on until the next death. I personally don't care whether one believes in them or not but I know for myself they are very real but I also believe in angels who are sent to protect us. And whether one believes in a hereafter - well, let me tell you, one day when you leave this world, you will know that there is a real heaven AND hell. I would rather be a believer and it not be real than to take a chance with eternity and not believe, finding out that I had lost out on the afterlife. These forces are real and there is a dark force as well as there is a good force. Choose the good one.

I saw a couple of times an old man that had died in my childhood. Now after many years, living in a different house, sometimes I see shadows standind or moving around.I don't tell my wife or kid to avoid
them from having a fear feeling.I stand up and look
at the shadows and they go away.I too feel a shilling
effect in my body but I resist to panic.(In my life I have been throught a lot) I have had sitted down in the dark(every body sleeping in the house)to see if any spirit wants to communicate with me, but nothing
comes. I firmly believes in God,pray to him, and deeply know HE will protect us and guide us.

Yes I had seen the movie and it scared me a little, I didn't know weather to beleive it or not until things started to happen to me in the house that I live in now. One evening I did some cleaning up before settled down for the night. Well as I was sitting in the livingroom watching some TV I seen something out of the corner of my eye in the dinningroom. I didn't pay any attention to it until morning when I walked through the dinningroom and I saw a paper sack that I threw away the night before in the trash in the kitchen laying on the floor. Then it dawned on me that, that is what I saw the night before. That isn't the only thing that has happened to me in this house. Now I beleive that there are other forces out there some good and some bad. Although the ones that I have seem so far to be good. They just move things around and make noises in the empty rooms upstairs like they are jumping or bouncing a ball alot. They don't scare me as much as they use to but if anyone knows how to communicate to them let me know, I still want to know why they threw the sack out of the trash.

I have seen the Movie " The Amityville Horror" I do believe in ghosts, because I had a friend who's house was haunted by her mother. I'm sensative to spirits. I can sometimes walk into a room, whether it be in a house, apartment, whatever, and sometimes know that there is something wrong, or something is there that shouldn't be, just by instinct. But,I am of sound mind and body and know without a doubt that we are not alone as much as we might think. There is a spirit world and I have a great respect of that idea.

Thanks,

I seen the movie, and I believe that there are unforseen forces amoung us. To many things have happen to, to many people. I even believe that my house is haunted. There was one night that I did some cleaning up before settleing down for the night. When all of a sudden something came from the kitchen out into the dinningroom. At first I couldn't see what it was so I didn't think anything more about it, but in the morning when I got up and walked into the dinningroom I found a paper sack that I had put into the trash in the kitchen the night before on the floor. Now I know sacks can't fly by themselves and there has been just to many little things happen that make me a beleiver about other forces out there. The ones that I have have not tried to harm anyone yet, so I don't think I have poltergists, but I know I have something else with me.

I recall watching Amityville when I was younger and needless to say, chilled me to the bone. Stl till this day, although I love watching horror films, maybe because this was inspired by a true event. I DO believe in ghosts.

HEY- THERE ARE DEVILS AND ANGELS ALL AROUND US!!!--
THINK ABOUT IT-- SOME LEAD US INTO TEMPTATION-- AND OTHERES DELEVER US FROM EVIL-- OUR BELEIF IS OUR STRENGHT AND KNOWLEDGE-- AND IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY BELEIFS-- WHAT DO YOU HAVE?? AND IF YOU DO NOT EDUCATE YOUR SELF-- WHAT DO YOU KNOW?? ONLY WHATS IN YOUR HEAD--
AND YOU CAN NOT GO THRU LIFE ONLY BELEIVING WHATS IS YOR HEAD-- THAT IS WHY WE GET EDUCATION-- SOME ALITTLE- AND SOME GET ALOT--I WOULD SUGGEST TO INVESTIGATE AND EDUCATE YOURSELF-- AND COME TO YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS-- EVERYBODY HAS HAD WEIRD STUFF HAPPEN-- SOME GOOD--SOME BAD-- AND ALOT UNEXSPLAINABLE-- THINK ABOUT IT--- THERE MUST BE MORE OUT THERE THAN WE KNOW

Does anyone know anything about the haunting in CT?
Comment #259 by Jacquline on September 19, 2009
I believe there are forces out there that man kind for what ever reason won't or can't accept. Weather we believe or not they are still going to do what they do. This is such a case. There has to be a evil entrance in to this house. I use to live in Westchester county in NY. One day me and my now desiesed husband drove by this house. He stopped as a joke and asked me if I wanted to tour the house. I got chills just looking at the house, I was not going in that house for all the tea in china.

I saw the movie and I was really freaked out by it. It was very scary. There's also this other movie - The Haunting in Connecticut. But I don't really want to see it!

I personally believe that there are unexpained fanamanon that are in deed explainable. People will only believe what they see but just because there are things that the human eye can't see does't mean that they don't infact exsist. I believe there are eviel forces out there that we know nothing about. Or if we do know about them we won't accept them. I think it is better to look a thing in the face then to pretend that it does not exsist.

In response to comment #12...I sincerely hope one day you get a chance to experience something that you can't make sense out of. The world isn't all black and white, even the spirit realm has its grey areas. And if you have to see it to believe it then why believe in heaven or hell...have you seen either? I can tell you from experience that it can be one of the most profound happenings in your life to realize that there are in fact beings around you that move, listen, speak and can make physical contact with you. I can also tell you that if you're not cautious it could be one of the most terrifying experiences you'll ever have as well.

there is no heaven or hell, its just a different plane of being, a different world.. and the Amityville movie came out over 20yrs ago, then they made a remake a few yrs ago.. I'm surprised to see not a lot of people have seen it.. Even if you're young, I would think it was a movie you'd see growing up on cable channels, of course edited but still lol. The house I grew up in was haunted, and then it burned down..

my family and i lived in a house that was close to a cementry. every night about 1 or 2 in the morining we would see two red eyes looking throug the window and we would scream from the top of our lungs. Our parents would come into our room that me and my sisters shared. So when my baby sister was born a month later we moved. But when we moved into the house that we live in now every now and then we would here voices or foot step up and down the hallway.

I believe we live in a world of all kinds of spirits around us. People who don't believe this are ignorant,we are all of a spirit form just alive and breathing. When you toil with the unknown beware you know what your dealing with. I have seen the movie and I believe it to be true.

No I haven't seen this movie, but some people would say this is rubbish as they don't believe that there are bad sprits, and if I hadn't have had a bad experience myself, I wouldn't believed it either, so now I know that there is such a thing as the devil.

Yes I have seen this movie! Amityville. Before it came out I have seen the episode of it about it. It was on the television show called the haunting. But then after when they decided to make it into movie and put it into the theaters then that's when I also purchase a movie ticket to go see it the first time when it hit the theaters. - LaTonya Taylor, Jacksonville, Florida.

Whatever people believe is their own business and all but i'm one of those people that don't believe in this stuff because i have to see it in order to believe it. I believe ghosts do not exist because when one dies they either go to heaven or hell there is no in between.
