A young woman visits a psychotherapist, complaining of claustrophobia; in the session she suddenly sees herself trapped in the hold of a slave ship. A man with incapacitating headaches recounts, under hypnosis, an earlier existence that ended when he died of a brain tumor. A writer unable to finish her books becomes convinced of a previous incarnation in colonial America, where she was prosecuted for heresy.
These people and others throughout the world believe that the answers to their problems may lie in the past – not the traditional past of childhood memories, but the past of a previous life. Exploring these lives with them are an increasing number of counselors and psychologists who specialize in what they call past-life or regression therapy. Patients undergoing such treatment are encouraged to think back to a time before they were born and to trace links between that supposed existence and their current life.
Here are two fascinating stories about past life regression.

My name is Jane (name changed) and I had a dream about the Titanic. I don't know if it means anything but I will tell you anyway. It started off that I had just woken up and was lying on a bed in a very old looking room. I slowly got up trying to work out where I was when I heard a knock on the door. I opened the door to a formal looking man in a uniform of maroon and gold. He told me that I was welcome to have dinner with the captain and I agreed. He took me to a large hall with a very long oak table and many people where already sitting at the table. The man who led me there showed me to a seat beside an important person.
The table filled up and the meal was served. The important lady beside me turned and started talking to me! It seamed she knew who I was. After the meal I went back to my room and lay restless in my room. There was a huge banging noise as if an explosion had gone off under me and I fell of my bed. The room was plunged into darkness. I felt very afraid and tried to find my way somewhere but had no luck. When the lights came back on, I ran to the door and out into the hall and found that both ends had been sealed off with some sort of metal grate. There was a very loud crunching noise behind me and I realized that the ship was splitting in two. I was very scared but realized finally what was happening. The boat was sinking. For some strange reason I jumped out of the end of the ship where it had split in two. I was in the water and then I woke up.
It was scary and I woke up with a cold sweat and I was shaking. I haven’t seen any of the titanic movies or documentaries. I told my friend who has seen all of those things and she told me that I described it exactly as in the documentaries. Also I am very interested in the craft and I constantly wear a silver pentacle on a chain it seems to have protected me many times.

I am a firm believer in reincarnation. All my life I have had an obsession with ancient Egypt. I have always felt that I simply belonged there. I am a deep believer in the Kemetic religion and I have taught myself to read and speak ancient Egyptian. When I was fourteen I had a dream about my life in ancient Egypt. In this dream, I was Merities, the chief wife and queen to pharaoh Khufu who supposedly built the Great Pyramid of Giza. In my dream I was presenting the pharaoh with our daughter, Hetepheres. I saw Khufu's face so clearly; he was so handsome. In the background, I could see the Great Pyramid was being repaired not built. I was very young, maybe fifteen or so, and I knew I had been Khufu's wife since I was twelve.
There were so many things I just knew about my life in Egypt. I knew that I was Khufu's favorite of all his wives and that I bore him at least three sons and two daughters. I knew that his advisor was a fat man named Heminenu and Khufu's mother, also named Heteperes, died during his reign. I had many dreams in which I saw events that happened during this lifetime. I saw images of court audiences when I was sitting beside Khufu's at his throne. I had dreams of walking through the Great Pyramid with Khufu--how the voices echoed off the walls and the light flickered on the ceiling. I had dreams of being with Khufu in private rooms of the palace --he would speak to me and I would feel overwhelming love for him.
The feeling of absolute love pervaded every dream I had, and when I think of Egypt I have such a feeling of longing. I feel drawn to Egypt, like I am supposed to be there. In so many of the dreams I had, Khufu was calling my name, Merities, which roughly translates as 'beloved one' in Egyptian. That's why I am so obsessed with Egypt: I was Khufu's beloved one and my heart belongs in Egypt with him. .......
