What is Baking Soda?

What is Baking Soda?
Baking soda is one of the best natural substances you can use for cleaning, deodorizing, first aid, and cooking.  Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, is mined as a mineral ore.
It is also a naturally-occurring substance found not only in mineral deposits, fresh water beds and in our oceans, but also in the human body.

Baking soda is a wonder product that can be used in virtually every room of the house.  Whether I’m cooking, cleaning, or administering first aid, I always like to have this handy agent nearby.  Once you discover all its amazing properties, you’ll want to lay in a big supply.

One of the things I like best about baking soda is that it is a natural substance and doesn’t adversely impact the environment like many commercial products do. I also like the fact that it’s so inexpensive.

Re Comment #6: If I am not feeling well, it is usually because my body is too acidic so I will put about 1/2 tsp in water and drink and it makes my blood less acidic and more alkaline. I will do this for a few days until I am feeling more balanced.

I have heard that you can soak beans in a solution of baking soda and water, which cooks in less time (i.e. Red beans, kidney beans, navy beans, etc.) About 1 1/2 teaspoons in approx. 2 cups water. Naturally, for larger portion of beans more water should be added.

I just started using baking soda and mixed 1/2 teaspoon in 4 oz. of water it stopped my heartburn right away also it is alkaline which offsets acidic foods. Re. Red meats, alcohol, cheeses and other types of foods.

There are lots of things you can do with baking soda. You can also add it to distilled white vinegar for a powerful drain cleaner. I use baking soda, white vinegar and ammonia for about all my cleaning needs. Have a book about all can do with vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has lots of uses, too.

The only thing I know about using baking soda is a pinch in a glass of water will help gas and 1 tsp. after cooking dry beans will help prevent gas. I don't know if it cleanses your body. Josephine
