About Cayenne Pepper

Variety Is the Spice of Life
Probably very few people think of cayenne when it comes to seasoning their food.  It’s certainly not in popular demand like salt and pepper.  Yet it has a wonderful flavor that can eliminate the need for rich sauces and salt.  And, unlike salt, cayenne doesn’t contain any sodium!

I sing the praises of cayenne and other hot peppers because they are so very good for you.  In fact, a wide variety of peppers can promote good health if you know how to take advantage of them.  So add a little spice to your life with hot peppers — you may feel the positive effects almost instantly!

Where does cayenne pepper come from?
Cayenne peppers are long, thin and curly, and grow on bushy plants.  The peppers are green or yellow but turn red after ripening and drying.  For seasoning and herbal use, they are usually dried and ground into a powder.

Don’t be fooled by the other peppers: sweet peppers are rounder and come in green, red, yellow and orange, but have no capsaicin.

The doctors on TV and yes, Dr. Oz as well, are touting turmeric (good in brown rice, with or without raisins) and cinnamon... and yes, I do have asthma, but keep it in tow by taking those two spices.

Anyone else know about cayenne being good for the lungs? Is it better to take a capsule or just put some on your food? Anyone know any nutritional/natural tips for eliminating asthma??

HI, MY DAUGHTER HAS A BLEEDING ISSUE AND I GIVE HER CAYENNE CAPSILS AND THEY HELP STOP THE PROBLEM. MY HUSBAND HAD BREATHING ISSUES WITH HIS LUNGS AND WE GAVE HIM CAYENNE PEPPER AND HIS BREATHING IMPROVED. CAYENNE IS ALSO GOOD PUTTING IN YOUR SHOES IN THE WINTER TIME TO KEEP YOUR FEET WARM, BUT BE SURE TO USE A PAIR OF OLD SOCKS BECAUSE IT WILL STAIN THE SOCKS. CAYENNE HAS A LOT OF GREAT USES. I JUST ABOUT TRIED THEM ALL SO KNOW HOW GOOD CAYENNE HAPPENS TO BE. MAKE IT A GREAT AND WONDERFUL DAY. RUTHANN
